I watched all the Super Bowl commercials so you don't have to

The Super Bowl is a mini film festival for advertising. I just watched all the Super Bowl commercials so you don’t have to.

(In fact I spent longer watching Super Bowl commercials than I did the actual Super Bowl.)

Here are the top 6 commercials from Super Bowl 2021.

#6 Certain is Better — Rocket Mortgage
I was trying to do the top 5, but this one snuck in. Classic Super Bowl commercial. Famous actor. Funny. Very expensive scenes.
While no one will be quoting this in a few months, it makes the list.

#5 King of Cold Cuts — Jimmy Johns
Mobster Tony Balon-avich is worried about Jimmy Johns cutting into his territory.
The intentionally wrong phrase ‘Jimmys Johns’ might be the new ‘Mailkimp’

#4 The Neighborhood Sesame Street X Doordash X Hamilton
Feel good.
People like food.
People like food delivered.
People like Sesame Street.
People like Hamilton and Daveed Diggs aka Jefferson.
This one is a winner.

#3 Tide — ‘That’s My Face’ — Seinfeld
For only being in 5 seconds of this commercial Jason Alexander looms large.
I don’t know how many Jason Alexander hoodies Tide is going to sell, but I bet it is a lot.

#2 Sexy Alexa
Coming in hot at #2 is Amazon’s sexy Alexa.
I mean who wouldn’t want Alexa to be the Black Panther. One of the best parts is the husband watching this happen as the comedic foil.

#1 No Way Norway
And our top commercial is No Way Norway from GM and Will Farrell.
This commercial almost tries to do too much, but the punch line and the sentiment keeps it all together and it delivers.
Now go buy an EV.
