I started an indiehacking YouTube vlog to take my build in public process to the next level

My first vlog episode is finally live 🥳

It's a mix of indiehacking, UX design, content creation and skateboarding.

It's actually the behind the scenes of my creative life. It's an experiment I recently started, where I build my products and my lifestyle-driven business in public so that more people can learn through my entrepreneurial journey.

Why vlogging?

  • Video allows other people to develop an emotional connection with me since I don't act and show who I truly am. They can feel my energy and get to know me. This is something that a tweet or an article can't really achieve.

  • Vlogging allows me to show what's truly happening behind the scenes and not only tweet my revenue and the highlights of the week. It's real, detailed and authentic.

  • It's fun to create - I hate writing long articles but I enjoy talking to the camera, expressing myself, and presenting my work. It just feels better to me as a person 🙂

Take a look and let me know what you think in the comments. It's a big step for me and I've no idea where it will end up to. I am just happy that I gave it a try without overthinking it . ❤️

In the end everything is an experiment.

If you are new to my journey, on June 2020 I quit my job with a year of savings (32.000€) to chase my dream of becoming a full-time IndieHacker. I had no specific plans or project ideas to work on. Only a goal, some savings and my skills. Since then I share every week what happens behind the scenes.

Feel free to join me on my journey, and to check all the updates I 've published so far!

Congrats on the beginning of this new adventure (or new part of the Indie Hacker journey)! This is indeed a very good idea to build in public, and it's original compared to all the blogs people write.
What results are you expecting with your channel, and what change have you already noticed? :)

Thanks a lot Ruben, really happy to hear that!

For results I don't have any clear expectations to be honest. I just have full faith into the content format and the overall process. I am not planning to become a YouTuber, I only want to build a quality audience or even better, a quality network of like-minded passionate people. My focus is on relationships and that's why I decided to go for the videos as well. I want to focus on the quality of the relationship and not the amount of the relationships.

My focus is storytelling and I am planning to hire a coach/expert to help me improve my videos and the way I present my journey and progress. I know that proper storytelling is by far one of the most powerful tools somebody can master in terms of communication (here is an interesting read on this https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/steve-jobs-lesson-storytelling-dave-byrne/)

Finally regarding the changes that I've seen, the only thing that I've noticed is just more self-confidence and a few people reaching out to connect :-)

@jimzarkadas - nice! I'm a big fan of public accountability.

BTW, how did you put that email subscribe form into this post / where does it go?

Thanks man! It's series in IH you can DM Channing (one of the co-founders) to give you access as well if you have an idea you want to create a series about :-)
