I started a youtube channel for coding tutorials

I've always wanted to start a youtube channel, with my own name, and introduce myself as myself, teaching what I know best: to code.

I've just went ahead and got stuck in and put out my first quick coding tutorial on Javascript forEach loops.

hi Alan, congrats on your channel from a fellow Irish YouTuber. There's definitely a niche out there for coding with Irish accents!

I started YouTubing in April (I think) and it's been worthwhile. Although growth is painfully slow on a day-to-day basis, it adds up when you zoom out and compare numbers between months or even quarters. I reached 1660 subs today. (Here's the channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC17mJJnvzAa_e9qQqLIfIeQ)

Most of that growth from a combo of three things:
1. Finding websites/subreddits where people appreciate my content and upvote it (vs. most places which don't give a damn or auto-moderate any attempts to share)
2. Having a playful/performative video, which I created with the goal of being entertaining rather than informative. This video is now doing as well as least 2/3 of the other videos combined. I guess the point for me is to remember to entertain on YouTube.
3. Responding to comments on HN etc. where people ask questions that my videos answer.

Good voice quality that matters a lot.

I would link to a video and mention it on how to get your environment setup etc. A lot of beginners don't know.

I would also make sure you tell them 'WHY' they need to subscribe etc. Promise them something.

"Subscribe if you want a weekly coding video that covers the basics" something where you promise value.

Good luck! I think the name of the game for you would be to rank when people search on YouTube...that's how I find 99% of video tutorials anyway :)

  Definitely man. I've used some good tags and keywords, done my research before hand, and i can see i'm on the first page-ish for javascript foreach loop which is good. So hopefully get some traffic and engagement
