How I made $1,023 within 10 days of product launch
IH+ Subscribers Only

I'm Ken, and I recently launched an AI headshot generator that hit $1,023 in revenue within its first ten days. I'd like to share some insights into how this was achieved.

Identifying the Gap in the Market

The idea for this product stemmed from noticing the cumbersome nature of many AI avatar applications in the market. They often required over 20 photos, hours of waiting, and came with a hefty price tag.

We found a new technological solution that needed just one selfie and 10 seconds to produce stunning images.

Development and Launch

The product development phase lasted about two weeks, focusing on creating a user-friendly landing page and an efficient editing interface.

For payment processing, we integrated Stripe services.

Initial Marketing and Cold Start Strategy

Our initial marketing strategy was to target websites that collect AI products, such as toolify.ai and theresanaiforthat.com. We purchased services and got featured on these websites, ensuring at least 48 hours of homepage visibility.

The initial traffic and conversion data from these sites were mixed:
toolify.ai had decent visitor numbers but a Paid Conversion Rate of 0.5%.
Source is toolify.ai theresanaiforthat.com had less traffic but an impressive Paid Conversion Rate of 4.7%.

The Turning Point

The real turning point came when we were featured in an newsletter, aitoolreport.beehiiv.com. This exposure brought in 1.5K unique visitors, with a staggering 21% Paid Conversion Rate.

Within the first 10 days post-launch, we reached a sales milestone of $1,023. This was a significant achievement, proving not only the viability of the product but also its profitability.

Reflections and Moving Forward

Although traffic and revenue have since normalized, I consider this launch a success. The key takeaway for fellow entrepreneurs: rapidly launch your AI product and leverage AI-focused websites. The initial traffic and conversions are promising, and the influence of these platforms can bring unexpected attention.

We've been busy enhancing our website, packing it with even more powerful generation features and a wider variety of styles.

I'm super excited for you all to see the upgrades and try them out. Your thoughts and feedback would mean the world to us – can't wait to hear what you think! 🙌

Hey Ken, congrats on the launch and the quick success! Your journey, especially the part about identifying a market gap and turning it into a viable product in just two weeks, is super inspiring. I'm also working on launching a project and believe in the MVP approach, so seeing your strategy and results gives me a lot of hope. The way you tackled initial marketing and adjusted strategies based on conversion data is really insightful. Thanks for sharing your experience, it's a great learning for fellow indie hackers! 🚀👍🏼

    Congrats on your success!

Seems like you have a good product; if you plan to have any kind of longevity, I'd recommend removing the fake press logos, can really damage your credibility.

  7. 1

You added a bunch of logos and brands like if they've written about your product... is that even real?

    1. 1

I was curious the same thing. Feels scammy and low quality.

Why did you put all the brands in the marquee? Yahoo news? TechCrunch? Spotify?

Searching for your product on any of the platforms you are representing on your landing page yielded no results. Feels misleading for sure.

I haven't contacted them. I believe it's because I was discovered due to exposure on earlier two websites.
