It's been 6 weeks since weeks since my co-founder and I launched ColdClicks, an AI email personalization tool. I've been posting updates on our growth, and it's been an exciting journey so far.
We recently set a new goal of acquiring two new customers every week, and this week we achieved that goal and hit 600 MRR!
For a long time my biz partner and I have thought of cold email as an amazing marketing channel for bootstrapped and early-stage founders. The barrier for entry is low, it doesn't cost a lot to get started, and it's straightforward to scale up... you just send more emails.
We'd been using cold email in our other businesses and found the one thing that was missing — personalization at scale — could be solved with AI. We built a prototype, tested it, launched, and now we're using the tool in our own outreach to connect with founders, sales teams, and agencies to bring awareness to our solution.
B2B cold email has been our main driver of growth so far. We mine leads, write email copy, personalize the copy, and send. When a prospect expresses interest we either send over a link to our calendar to book a call, or a link to the app to sign up for free.
We've also been using social media to grow awareness. This has sparked some conversations with sales guys who found value in ColdClicks and signed up, but it's also been great for promoting our message, and generally informing people on the possibilities of cold email.
Once you get your process down, all it takes is time and work to start seeing sign-ups, which is why I love it. Other channels are more complex, or require more money to get started, and as a founder wearing multiple hats it's easy to get lost in the details.
Moving forward we're going to keep scaling up our email outreach, and start exploring other channels. Main focus will be on content and SEO, and some highly targeted ads.
Something that's clear is there's a stigma around cold email and it's association with spam, so we're on a mission to dispel that myth and help businesses grow by capitalizing on the untapped potential that is B2B email outreach.
Think about it — if an email landed in your inbox from a business who took the initiative to find you specifically, they clearly understood the pain points in your business, and could solve those pain points in a proven way, with no risk your side, that's a great opportunity for both you and the business who reached out to you.
Hopefully you found some value here! Excited to keep posting updates as we grow, and share our learnings along the way. I created a step-by-step guide on how to get started with email if you'd like to learn more. If you'd like to connect you can also find me on Twitter/X at https://twitter.com/3dperils. Or if you have any questions, let me know in the comments.
Wish you well! That is a great start 🚀
What was the biggest challenge for you guys?
Awesome story. Would it be alrighty with you if I would do a Indie Review on your business on my newsletter about indie hacking? https://jointhetechbubble.substack.com/
Are you using OpenAI API behind? or another LLM
Love this! Celebrate to keep your momentum :)
How did you guys personalize the emails?
Would you also send looms? Why? Why not?
Love to hear this, you are making success and most importantly achieving your goals — that's remarkable! Thanks for sharing.
Awesome
Stuck out to me :) I always loved the advice of 'solve your own pain point' and this feels like a good example of that.
Bearing that in mind, do you have any case studies? :) Would love to read about what it has solved/accomplished for early customers, but understand it's a bit early to ask that question haha.
Awesome dude, love seeing the progress
cheers -- will post more updates soon
Let's goo!
Another 2 weeks, another $200 recurring. Keep it going!
Thank you!!
