This guy makes $20k/month selling Notion templates. Here's how you can do it with any online product.

Recently I came across a tweet from Modest Midkus. For those who aren't familiar, Modest is a digital creator who has a few online businesses, 1 being a course on how to build digital products and another selling notion templates.

Modest earns approx. $20-$30k per month selling these notion templates. But how does he do it?

SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

In the tweet, Modest shared his SEO stats for his website from the last 2 months.

He is targeting the keyword "notion templates" and from the 2nd of April until the 13th of June he got the following stats for this keyword:

  • Total clicks: 4,275
  • Total impressions: 135,394

So essentially there are approx. 60K+ people searching for notion templates on Google every month and out of those people approx. 2K+ are clicking on his website each month.

The strange thing about this is he isn't even ranking in the top 10 on Google for this keyword!

So what does this mean?

Basically Modest has found a keyword that has high search volumes each month and he has optimized his website for it (as in he mentions the keyword in a few key areas on the website) and from that he is getting huge traffic coming into his website each month and he is converting that traffic into customers. This is all happening even though he isn't ranking in the top 10 on Google (his website pathpages.com is around about the 14 mark if you search for "notion templates").

Here's how you can too.

I find startup ideas where you can target keywords that have low difficulty (meaning it's easy to rank high on Google) and high search volumes (meaning lots of people are searching for the keyword every month).

I've found one that is quite similar to what Modest is doing here, let me know what you think.

So what's the idea?

Notion Template Marketplace

"A platform that offers a wide range of customizable Notion templates for different industries and use cases. Users can browse, purchase, and download templates to enhance their Notion workspace and increase efficiency."

What keywords can I target?

  • Keyword: best notion templates
    • Keyword Difficulty: 19
    • Average Search Volume: 1000 per month
  • Keyword: notion templates aesthetic
    • Keyword Difficulty: 24
    • Average Search Volume: 1600 per month
  • Keyword: notion calendar templates
    • Keyword Difficulty: 19
    • Average Search Volume: 880 per month
  • Keyword: notion journaling templates
    • Keyword Difficulty: 22
    • Average Search Volume: 720 per month

What's the takeaway

If you have an idea for an online business and want to get customers then find keywords that you can target that are easy to rank in Google for and have high search volumes. Modest gets these customers on autopilot without promoting his notion templates too much. Who doesn't want that? Sales while you sleep is always a good thing!

You might say ok but there's already loads of Notion Template Marketplace's. If you look on Google you will see a few but that shouldn't let it stop you. Just because something already exists doesn't mean you won't be successful. Competitors are a good thing and it's why those 4 keywords have high search volumes but the key thing to know is all those keywords have a low keyword difficulty, meaning it is easy to rank high in Google for them so there is big potential here!

This is a great breakdown of how effective SEO can be for driving traffic and sales! The idea of targeting low-difficulty, high-volume keywords seems like a solid strategy. I'm curious, do you have any tips on how to identify these keywords effectively, or any tools you recommend?

Nope but he still manages to make 20K each month, why? All that traffic he gets each month!

This is really a great idea. I am already implementing the same strategy on my new and 1st blog site. Let say or name the low competition keywords are called related keywords. I am using different tools to find the low competition keywords. Although ahref is one of the best SEO tool. I am using an online keyword generator, that extract the keywords from google suggestion. Then for keyword volume I put the keywords in Keyword Everywhere bulk volume finder tool. Then I group the keywords in topics and cover the keywords comprehensively.
Your post is a motivation for me.
