An Intro Vlog

First vlog is up. For a while I have been looking at different mediums in which I could talk about my interests in tech stemming from the auto industry.

The inspiration behind the vlog is, I’ve been writing a newsletter for the past two months on electric vehicle industry news (the modern auto industry) and have received a lot of positive response from it . I was challenged by the founder of the Coder Dads Slack group, Emmet Naughton, publicly on Twitter to film with what I had and get it up before Sunday.

I accepted the challenge and had a lot of fun doing it. The focus of the first vlog was to give a personal background about myself and demonstrate the driving force behind learning web development, understanding the EV world, and combining them with my auto industry knowledge, and laying out what viewers can expect to see in future content.

This is a great experiment as I try to identify the right cadence and flow of content. More to come soon!

    Hey Joshua,
Congratulations on the newsletter and vlog. Amazing to hear you accepted the challenge and took immediate action. How'd you manage to get people to sign up to your newsletter?

Hey @invalidsyntax (cool username btw), I appreciate the compliment. The biggest thing that gets people to sign up is there first has to be value. I started becoming active on Twitter where others shared similar interests and commenting on what the latest news was, I gained followers who were interested in what I had to say which resulted into email signups for the newsletter.

This principle can easily be replicated on other platforms, credibility has to be built from something and valuable comments are a great place to start. Hopefully this helps.
