I recently launched my new SaaS product that uses AI to do the entire SEO process called Post Cheetah. I launched in late August and by the end of September we were already a little over $3k MRR, with zero paid ads.
I've been doing SEO for over 12 years and when I started finally using ChatGPT late last year I knew I had to start building something amazing to help do the entire SEO process using AI. I'm extremely proud of what we have built and I have a TON of new awesome features on the way to solidify us as the go to AI SEO tool on the market.
January 2023
I basically came up with this idea in January of this year and started working on it immediately, since I already run an SEO agency it didn't matter to me if I found "product market fit."
I was solving my own problem and it was going to make my life way easier.
March–August 2023
I realized quickly that it's very very hard to get attention onto a new SaaS unless you have endless marketing resources, which I don't. I tried running some Facebook ads to an early access sign up page with "mixed" results. Since it was going to take way too much money (& time) I had to find another way.
So I started building up my Twitter following, AI on Twitter was going crazy so I decided to jump into the "thread boi" trend and start posting informative and fun threads on how to use AI (using methods I was learning/studying).
The results were insane. I grew 45k followers in 3 months, I got 7,500 people on my early access list, and I got around 6800 people signed up to my personal newsletter.
September–October 2023
I started to message my list 100 contacts at a time to let them know early sign ups were ready. This brought on our first users and I was able to get a TON of bugs worked out and some very helpful feedback which helped us tailor it a lot.
I finished emailing everyone on the list at the end of September and by then we had already reached $3k MRR.
Since I'm nowhere near my goal and I know just how massive the potential is for this product I'm working on taking the next steps to reach it's full potential.
I hope this helped inspire some fellow Indie Hackers and I'm always open for a chat if anyone wants to reach out. Also if you have any suggestions for improvement or scalable marketing I'd love to hear them.
"I was solving my own problem" - this is the best way to start a SaaS in my point of view. You're the main stakeholder.
Thanks for sharing the story! I am also building an AI tool in the link building niche! Would love to connect and chat!
Amazing I am doing something similar but specifically for blogging . My tool will analyze the currency high rank blogs for specific niche and target readers to come out with the best type of blog and how to get more readers.
I would like to know your feedback on it. Here is the tool creativeblogtopic.com
very interesting idea!
I envy you man, keep it up
I haven't done anything yet! Don't be envious, just work hard and you can go 10x further
Don't expose your company email address like that is open to getting email scraped and then spammed . Try https://veilmail.io to hide your email address behind a captcha.
Congrats on the launch, and keep it up, Mark!
Thanks Mark!
I envy you, keep it up.
For products from startup teams, indeed, doing SEO well is necessary. It needs to be user-focused and free. SEO requires time, and many people lack the patience for it.
I have a feeling that's why so many people are taking to Post Cheetah, the next growth phases will make the product even more robust and easy to use.
Does AI can really solve SEO problems?
It can make your life 100x easier
their they're typo on your page
Thx!
What is the products results in SEO, and what are the steps?
It uses AI to automate the entire SEO process. It mixes Google data with GPT-4 to create an automated SEO guru for any website.
explain seo guru, seams like a buzword? Where is the outcome of a single step?
What were your email sequences like for your list?
Sloppy tbh, since it was my first time. I experimented with many different email styles at the beginning with small samples sizes and found that the most direct emails worked "You're Free Early Access to Post Cheetah is Ready!" - With a huge "CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP!" button at to top of the body
