As a Canadian it's kind of second nature for me to be somewhat subtle and not really loud spoken.
But as someone without a built in network I knew that if I kept going the same way, no one would end up finding our product or giving a shit about us.
Figured last night to try being a little louder than usual. I think it worked out.
I'm writing this as a reminder to all my IH friends here, don't cross out controversy as a marketing strategy, sometimes the little guy has to yell louder than usual to get noticed 📢

Nice tweet. Though, I would have tweeted, "Hey @dulingo, I am coming for your ass, cul, culo, bunda, pigu, arsch, and more".
just, lol! Nice :)
love it hahaha
Haha Pratik, this is genius :)
Thanks, Alexa :)
Incredible. You're basically Neo in the Matrix when it comes to Twitter right now
Couldn't do it without an incredible product man like you, and the rest of the team <3
So simple yet such impact. This clearly explains we don't need to dwindle with hashtags to get attention, sometimes :)
haha, and I was one of those people.
Would love to see the download/sign-up stats for this Tweet.
Also, damn! 1K+ followers within 24 hours!
Response has been unreal man, but totally random too! Could have fell flat if no one saw it or shared it around. That's why I think we founders should look at this sort of thing like a tool in our toolbox. Could it risk alienating people who think its too brash, sure! but if no one is listening to you anyways, you've got to speak louder than usual to stand out.
Tweet drove a 4x increase to active users from when before I posted to now! Difficult thing now will be to reach everyone high expectations :)
Haha I saw it and even forwarded it in a DM to a couple of friends 🙂 Good job!
😂 Thanks for the support Andrea!
Haha this is great @Ara. Always good to see some humour and putting yourself out there getting some traction. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Gordon! A bit scary for sure to be out in front of so many with a brash message like that but thankfully most people figured it was just friendly marketing banter and responded positively :)
Haha absolutely my man. I think you nailed it. Most people are capable of seeing the humour in it.
Appreciate that man!
I saw it too on twitter, small circles, haha :D
I figured this can play out in two ways:
a) you end up crushing it and this tweet will be historically interesting like this one
b) it doesn't happen in which case no one remembers
In both scenarios there are only upsides, so either way it will end up being a gain. Good job on the exposure 👏
Thanks Neea :) I hope it ends up being like the first scenario but I like how you worded it and that's what im trying to get at with this post. Theirs less risk and more upside than you'd expect by being a little edgier with your marketing. I think people are tired of corporate speak and are more willing to engage with brands that sound like how your friends talk.
Like these pre-packaged steak guys https://twitter.com/steak_umm/status/1254796235078357003
Oh, I saw that in my timeline, how cool! I thought it was clever, ballzy and maybe a bit arrogant, but it worked!
Thanks Gene! Definitely risky as now we have to deal with inflated expectations, but I think it's net good for us, definitely will kick our butts into high gear to ship all the features/languages people have been asking for.
Just like a mother won’t feed her child unless it cries, the same way it;s necessary to yell louder at time to get the message through. However, inviting any kind of controversy through a tweet is not good. One needs to strike a balance between subtlety and stupidity.
Ah, saw that one! Well played. It left a bit of mixed feelings at my side but hey, here are the results.
It's funny, I 'liked' your tweet last night exactly for this reason! 👏 on the success, it certainly cut through my feed.
Hah, great tweet. Congrats!
Happened to see this on twitter before seeing your IH post, and it was definitely notable enough to have me curious! I ended up checking out the profile page and I think liking the post as well. Great advice and it's cool for me to put a face behind the tweet.
wow nice job! Did it just go viral by itself or? Do tell :)
Thanks Marko! It was RTed by some awesome people in tech. Also since I ended up commenting back on a lot of the retweets and replies, a lot more people saw it through secondary engagements. But the nature of these things is definitely random.
I didn't know last night that what I tweeted would 4x our user base and get over 200k views. I'm a little bit dazed by it to be honest haha. Looking forward to the challenge of meeting everyone's expectations with my team.
Thanks for sharing!
Awesome! Did you tweet “sorry” at the end?
Nope, no need to apologize for some friendly banter :)
Ah I meant as a “Canadian way” 😅
Turned out they don’t all say sorry all the time.
Especially les québécois....
I had to unlearn some of that Canadian Way. Not good to be too apologetic😂
