1M ARR Copy Guide: Basics & Secrets to Increase Sales

Hey!

Stop refreshing your analytics and start making sales. I have a few tricks for you, but first let's start with the basics.

Remember the 3 C’s of copywriting? It must be clear, concise and compelling. Read it out loud, get rid of extra words and make it persuasive. Very simple right? Keep it that way.

Size matters? Well, it does in copywriting. Short copy will be seen more, but long copy will earn you more sales. Big entry barriers = long-run clients.

Ok. What about marketing?

Your copy/content must be user-centered. Remember, decision making is emotional (logic coming in second place), so don’t try to provide ''value'' that nobody wants.

The idea is to create storyloops to keep readers attention, while telling them what to do. What and how you say it is very important.

Also, aesthetics matter. Make it look nice.

This is 80% of the work -basic stuff- but very important. Now, let's dive into the other 20% (the secrets).

Overton's window and the art of drawing attention. The more disruptive something is, the more attention it will get. Disruptiveness can do more harm than good, so use it wisely. Don’t fight your customer’s core beliefs and values.

Connect emotionally through character flaws. People connect more for the bad than for the good. Use it to your advantage. Every unfavorable aspect that interacts with the hero of your story works.

Now, social influences. We need to consider aspirational, belonging, and influencing groups interacting with our reader. Herd mentality. Ideas must be socially accepted.

Short, but pragmatic. Hit me up on Twitter if needed.

one I tell myself daily is...

    Be clear - not clever.

Say what you need to say in the simplest way possible. Being clever may feel good, but what's clever to you is unclear to your reader.

And lack of clarity is an exit ramp from your copy readers will take over and over.

Love these tips, which one of these topics are you going to write in detail about first? I'm very interested in the details of (in order):

    • 💔 Emotional connection through character flaws
    • & 📄 Short copy, Long copy

Probably about character flaws, since it's about the hero's journey and story telling/doing, I think it will be more interesting for the community. I like the other one, but it's more of a personal thing, very ad related. thanks for commenting!

Hi! Depending on the brand awareness, the copy will be different. An inbound mkt blog wouldn't use the same copy as a social media ad.
