Simple Build In Public Strategy
How to build in public without getting overwhelmed.
superframeworks.com
You don't have to become a content machine to build in public. Just answer 1 question at the end of your work day.
I loved the article and all points provided.
On the by,I found it Abit straining on the eye the choice of font ,I read it on my phone and could not make some words out.
Oh okay.. thanks for the feedback, I'll try some other font..
Great article - thanks for sharing. I'm wondering when is the perfect time to start sharing your journey in public? right with identifying a problem and deciding to build it? after building a MVP? what are your thoughts on that?
I think even before that.. while you're still learning about the problem.. Your followers will find great value in that type of content as well..
ah true. I'm kind of afraid that someone else will solve the problem before me.
Possible.. You can still share what you learn without revealing the problem. You can say you're trying out a couple of ideas in X space or something..
Definitely recommend even during the learning or research phase. I've had a couple people reach out to me on LinkedIn and give me some of the best insights into an industry I'm not a part of.
Start sharing your journey as soon as you started your journey.
If you're working on something daily, it means you can write updates daily.
I do it myself too (even before the product is built)

Thanks for this and the ref to "Storyworthy"! I was looking for the next book to read and this post helped me get one.
awesome.. it's a great book..
Storyworthy is great! Check out his videos/tedtalks on YouTube — it's basically chapters from his book. (author's name is Matthew Dicks)
I've also written Storyworthy summary with visuals here:

Any advice for introverted folks who find building in public way out of their comfort zone?
Yes.. it becomes easier with practice. I'm an introvert as well, took me a while to build that publishing muscle. So don't think too much into it, just get started and gather some momentum.
I agree with the points, but what actually happens is no one cares about my tweets😅. How do you think about replying to big accounts? Is it important to building in public?
Yea.. replying to larger account helps a lot. And if you're actively trying to build a huge audience then you should definitely do it.
But if you want don't have any ideas about what to publish regularly on your account, and you want to authentically build in public, then just documenting your journey can be quite useful.
Hey Danny,
Yeah the problem is that it's super difficult to get attention by talking about your products.
Unless you've created an incredible product that people are completely amazed by it's gonna be very very difficult to capture attention by talking about it.
I literally just posted an article here today about this problem & what to do about it - https://www.indiehackers.com/post/without-this-1-thing-your-startup-will-fail-guaranteed-heres-what-it-is-and-how-to-get-it-1ebe2eb199
Hope that helps

Same for me and it's difficult to keep up motivation like this.
Building an audience takes time and one needs to hang on but one problem may be the tough competition on Twitter which makes the process even more complicated; hence I thought about switching the platform, e. g. post on Indie Hackers more often. What do you think?
Hey Alexander,
As I said to Danny (the guy you replied to), the problem comes down to the fact that talking about your product is a very ineffective way to capture attention.
It's not really the platform that's the problem but the strategy you're using to capture attention. Wrote an article about this (and what to do about it) today here on indiehackers - https://www.indiehackers.com/post/without-this-1-thing-your-startup-will-fail-guaranteed-heres-what-it-is-and-how-to-get-it-1ebe2eb199

Cool! That's the kind of content I am here for. Thank you!
Awesome.. glad you liked it 🙌
Nicely summarized Ayush!
At one point all businesses need to stop sharing their journey cause there is always a risk that your idea might get stolen but what you learnt throughout the journey should be shared as it brings together a community and also develops user interest.
Had a great time reading it, thank you for sharing!
Cheers Harsh, glad you liked it..
"This post will take 4 minutes to read" -- well with that font for me it will take 4 days
Love it! This is awesome dude! Thanks for writing these out. I'm posting maybe once a week atm and already seeing huge benefits. Mainly from the fact that I'm starting to meet really awesome people online.
P.S. Definitely change that font, the one in your screenshot is much easier to read.
Thanks a lot..
And yes.. changing the font right away 🙈
Awesome write up. So awesome, you can't find such content in the school. Thanks for sharing this awesome content.
Thanks for sharing this, some solid advice in there!
Cheers.. glad you liked it..
Thanks for this guide. I am struggling how to build in public, this is a good paper to come back for.
Cheers.. glad you liked it..
Building in public isn't for everyone - there's an alternative: https://www.indiehackers.com/post/why-build-in-public-will-doom-your-startup-to-failure-df34063935
Sorry couldn't make out the alternative you were suggesting from the link you shared.
And yes I agree, build in public isn't for everyone..
This is brilliant, thanks for sharing.
thanks, glad you liked it.
And, This post landed while I have been reading “Show Your Work”. The post itself cleared hundreds of questions from my mind as I decided to build my product in public.
Super helpful 👍
Oh brilliant Govind.. glad you liked it..
Show your work is one of my favorite books..
Great article.
My biggest issue is consistency. There are days where I just don't really care to leave an update. And there are days where I'm excited to do it, and my tweets get decent engagement. Realizing now that you just have to stick to it, even on those down days.
Yes, consistency is key.. after a while it becomes a habit and gets easier to do..
super-helpful! Simple actionable “do’s and don’ts" + meaningful links.
Great stuff! Thanks for sharing!
recently I launched my side project plugindragon it is a website where you can download envato elements at the lower price, the idea behind this website is when you create an account in https://plugindragon.com it will automatically create a common account in envato with someone who already has an account in plugindragon and has no account partner. If you have any tips on how to improve please don't hesitate to leave a feedback.
Thank you for the kind words.. glad you liked it 🙌
I also recommend to document updates in some kind of doc so you can see the whole startup history at one page (Twitter isn't great for "feed")
Here's the Notion journal of the product that I'm building:
https://momentum.paralect.com/build-in-public-playbook
yes, everyone should have a personal blog where they document their journey.
Yeah I mean more not like a blog but a daily journal
So you can see day by day what happened
As you referred to Storyworthy — it's called "Homework for life" in the book
Yes.. love the idea of homework for life...
Agree, it's so simple yet so transformational (and hard to follow consistently hehe)
Nice points -- great job
