Dear Indie Hackers,
I recently acquired a new SaaS app, and I'm excited to share it with you https://www.Previewify.app
Our platform allows users to automatically generate Open Graph images based on templates provided by our team. You can also built completely custom templates using our advanced editor that allows templates to be built with Tailwind Css and HTML. It's a simple, yet powerful tool that can help users improve their social media presence and drive more traffic to their site.
We are preparing to rebrand and reposition Previewify, however we're struggling with one important decision: pricing. We're considering starting out at either $9, $14, or $19 per month, but we're not sure which option is best. I would love to hear your thoughts and feedback on pricing.
As part of the Indie Hackers community I know there is a lot of valuable insights to be shared on pricing. Is it better to start with pricing a little high or a little low?
Your advice and guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.
Also feel free to ask any questions :)
Where'd you come across buying this?
Seems like a steal at such an early stage.
...But I suppose that is the deal with products that have few customers yet 😄
I was just browsing Twitter and came across this product. I saw that it was built with the tech stack that I am familiar with, so I became interested in buying it. I contacted the founder, Lars, and we came to an agreement. I will write more about this in a separate post. We currently have around 10 customers, with a mix of monthly and yearly subscribers.
I would try 9-19-49 and you can still fall back to the original numbers during sales. Especially with the biggest plan, those numbers look like enterprise numbers, but the price is nowhere.
Thanks for the feedback @GarryMe. I really appreciate that :)
Hi Logan! Congrats on the acquisition.
If you need help with pricing options you could schedule a complimentary consultation with Lukas on Geeks and Experts. He has over 20 years of experience in building products.
Thank you, will keep that mind.
Wish you best of luck for your new branding previewlinks.io I really like your idea and your new branding looks awesome.
Thank you, Yeah we are really going to put a lot of work into branding and repositioning the product to target the blogger community.
I liked the design of website but not the name. You can find better names that I can tell easily.
Good luck!
Yeah me too, that is why we are rebranding. The new name is previewlinks.io
More to come on that in a future post.
The new site is actually up, so you can see some of the new copy etc; however when you try to signup it will redirect you to the previewify.app site.
Been in Micro SaaS space for some time.
It's nice to see more founders picking small validated products and growing them in their own style. Probably, you should write about your experience and share learnings eventually.
I also saw your comment that its a $80 MRR now. It's good to see that.
Thanks upenv, I plan to keep posting on Indie Hackers through out the journey. I will have another post soon on rebranding and repositioning the SaaS in the next couple of weeks.
Thankyou!!
Oh! I actually checked this SaaS before. The pricing in my opinion is perfect. The problem i think lies in the poorly explained bullets. I didn't get the service because even as a developer i have no clear idea what is the throughput of the service and its limitations. I would suggest adding to each single-worded bullet point in your pricing table a more in depth explanation of what each respective point means. Eg:
Sites: Refers to individual domains
Templates: does this refers to image templates i can create?
Images: Idk what this means. if its a measure of how many images i can serve?
... And so on.
I think this is important because as a developer and business co-owner, when i am looking for solutions i may have 10 tabs with you and all your other competitors and the winner will be the one that explains the best what their solution do without getting me to sign up, create an account and actually use the product to know what is actually the capabilities of it
Wow, that's cool. I agree, I don't think it's currently explained well. We will be restructuring it and creating pages that specifically have explainers for developers and bloggers. Because we will be repositioning the product to target Wordpress bloggers heavily with a new Wordpress extension that we are building.
Yes, templates refers to how many templates you can create, and images means the number of images generated by the service. For example, if someone shares your site on Facebook, it will generate the og image from the template you have set, so that will be one image generated. However, if they share that same page, image generations will not go up because it's already cached. But if they were to share another page on the site, it would be another generation, so you are now up to two total images generated.
We will work on making the bullet points as clear as possible and use simple graphics to help explain the process. I hope that makes sense.
Really appreciate the feedback :)
Amazing! I will be in need of this product in the future, so i will be gladly following closely
Congratulations @logan!! And previewfy looks a real slick product. Would love to try it in one of my projects soon.
Quick question/suggestion on pricing- why not offer a perpetual free plan as well? It'll give a much longer time to experiment and see value.
Good luck and wish you lot of success. ✌🏻
Yes I have been thinking about doing a free plan. Maybe it just allows for a few posts and it has a small branded logo. This will probably happen :)
You may want to include an 'Enterprise' tier to go after customers that want features around security, compliance etc. (if you have the capacity to build)
Yeah definitely will be looking into adding enterprise tier level features in the future like SSO. Thank you for you input :)
I looked at your pricing and one thing that came to my attention is when you select yearly, whole year pricing is written. Normally needs to write discounted monthly price and says '' billed annually.
It's better for customers to compare with the monthly price...
Thank you. I will update this :)
I should also mention the platform already makes around $80 MRR.
