Any good App Store marketing/growth courses?

I've developed and released my fair share of iOS apps in the past and recently I've released a Solitaire game on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.online_solitaire.app.

Each time I fall through because of marketing/growth on the App Store. I know the basics, like good screenshots, marketing text, keywords research and basic ASO, but it doesn't seem to do much.

I was wondering whether you know of any good courses on App Store marketing/growth/ASO? Preferably from someone who knows all the tricks of the trade and has managed to get apps to the top of the App Store for difficult keywords?

So I recently got my apple ads certification and google play store certification. One thing I'd highly recommend is experminting. If you'd want some help with that I'd be more than happy to help you out.

Someone also mentioned TikTok which is very lucrative for mobile games right now too.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve also played around with ads a bit. I don’t think ads are a viable option for ad-based apps though since the ROI is a lot smaller than subscription-based apps. What do you think?

If you're not looking to spend money on search ads then I'd recommend using a tool like sensor tower or apptweak to learn what keywords your competitors are using and start experimenting with those keywords in your title and description.

Hey Holger, there has been a case study here in IH about someone using TikTok influencers to get 150.000 downloads for his app in 4 weeks. They reached out to about 250 people and ran campaigns with about a dozen. Not sure about the detailed numbers anymore but that was about it. They paid roughly 2.500 USD in total to the influencers.

Please note that this was BEFORE TikTok launched the Creator Marketplace. This means they had to really do some deep research, and reach out to people individually and influencers had to show a URL in their video that users needed to manually copy and browse for it. Today this is automated for you with the Creator Marketplace and videos will come with a button to click on, so you will get much more clicks to your app.

Not sure how the pricing changed as this might be higher now that infrastructure has been set up and TikTok takes a share. But surely it´s the best bet to boost your app today. Especially if you can monetize it with subscriptions or one-time payments. Not sure if that works out for ad-based monetization.

Sounds cool. Do you have a link to it?

Hey Holger, unluckily I didn´t save that.

This is how I market my iOS app. I found relevant forums on Reddit and posted there. Here is one such post: https://www.reddit.com/r/SPACs/comments/s2zyce/company_360_ios_app_for_finding_undervalued/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

Sure you will get banned from some of them but overall this strategy works. One post got me 600+ downloads over 2 days.

I also advertise on AppStore. Apple gives $100 credit for advertising.

      Sounds like an interesting strategy.

    Hey Holger,
There's one by Darius Mora (ex-CMO of Reflectly - An App with millions of downloads).
It's quite great, he does share some of his personal hacks, really helpful.
    Here's the link - https://www.udemy.com/course/app_marketing/

Thanks for the link. Seems like it might definitely be worth a look. I was hoping to read from someone with experience ranking an ad-based app as well. I think the marketing strategy between an ad-based and a subscription-based app is quite different.
