Hello Everybody!
I would like to ask you to share with us your opinion about our explainer video (1 min long)?
Should we add any voice over? The genaral idea is that people will watch it on their mobile phones mostly, muted - so more important is to explain everything using short text headings.
Thank you!
Honestly, that's not the impression I got when watching the video. I think one of the biggest appeals of those platforms for creators is that there is a bit of a built in audience and promotion with those platforms. And second, I think, is that there is less to worry about in terms of hosting, setting up billing, etc.
The impression I got from the video is that your platform is a solution to bring software that would be on students' computers into a web-based platform. That may be what you're going for, but since it is different than above, I wanted to question it. Did you do interviews with your target market to identify the pain points?
It seems that we communicate it totally wrong...😕 Thank you for your feedback!
This is our MVP video: https://youtu.be/fSMV3ZeyvMQ
Would you please tell me, if this one is also misleading?
In general since 2017 we are an IT training services company, we acquired some feedback from our instructors and clients, but just about the product, not product marketing.
Once again - thank you!
You're welcome. It's my pleasure.
I think that video could be a bit more clear as well, especially in the beginning. "For those who want to use desktop software in a browser" could apply to any number of use cases. Someone coming in cold would have no idea it's a teaching platform unless they stuck through.
It seems to me you're making the common mistake of focusing too muey pch on product and features instead of users and their needs. I suggest speaking to your target audience to find out about their challenges and pain points. Think broader than product. They don't always have specific features in mind. The just want solutions to those problems.
I also suggest trying to further define your audience, as that will affect the messaging. Are they people who already have instructor-led courses and have frustration with their current platforms? People who are looking to create one for the first time? Etc.
Wow @SeanKirby! Thanks!
It's not that we haven't talked to potential clients / users before. What's more - we do it on an ongoing basis with the courses attendees and instructors. Our development process is based on Lean Startup model. Our progress is measured by means of surveys.
We have been operating on the IT training market since 2017.
Our solution was created as a response to our experiences and needs based on hundreds of courses.
Sales will primarily be directed to companies similar to ours and individual trainers. So we start with a typical SaaS model to also join the Marketplace model later on. We have a precise plan how to attract one side of the transaction first, and then add another. The final step will be to add the multitanency features - thanks to this, organizations will be able to use our "as is" solution internally.
We've already done a demo for some worldwide companies, as for universities. The conclusion is that Zoom or MS Teams are not enough when training is based on specific software. Yes, these tools work well for lectures, but they are definitely not enough when instructors want to conduct a practical Big Data / Hadoop course etc.
What we do is the evolution of DaaS concept, We free DaaS from the geolocation requirements and offer it in a more user friendly form, directly in users web browser. The main goal is low latency here. The whole thing is enriched with collaboration features like in Google Docs and the real-time communication.
The thing is that it seems we are very poor online marketers... Our sales of IT training services to date are based mainly on the word of mouth marketing and direct actions. But as you mentioned, our explainer has to be clear for our customers, so now we are sure that we need help here.
OK. It sounds like you've gone about it the right way. Perhaps my perspective is a bit skewed because I'm not in your target audience and I'm seeing it from a different perspective.
Just make sure to invest time and effort in identifying and targeting the people are trying to communicate with.
Best of luck.
Hey @Teamsharq, just saw your video, I think more than voice over I'll show the platform itself like the one you have on the landing page. Not sure where are you going to share this video, but maybe showing people using it or showing how to use it would be more attractive than just the animations.
Thank you! We just want to make it about 1 minut long. That is why it is so hard to figure out how to prepare a proper video explainer.
In general we want to be the Skillshare/Udemy for live, instructor-led courses. It is an evolution of DaaS platform with collaboration features, available in a web browser. That is what we would like to present with this video...
Got it, I understood the product from the video so I think its clear from that side! I like this video from Pitch https://pitch.com/ maybe it's harder to pull it off but I think you can make it in a 1 minute version and would make a huge impact.
Yes, I have seen it, this video is great and their domain name is even better. :) Looks like we have to outsource it to someone...
Well if you want it to become viral and have some people talking about it, then yes, it also depends for what you want it (say share it on socials or launch it on PH), but I'll suggest you to do something nicer so you can show off your product better
For now, we would like to explain briefly what our product is about, we are still under development and we are bootstrapping. There are some voices that our video from the landing page is way too complicated...
I understood but maybe because I'm more familiar with these kind of products, maybe that'll be a good starting point, asking people to explain your product and get some feedback on how you can simplify the message before you work on the video.
We will do that! Thank you for your feedback! That's why we are here! When you are building something 16h/day, you wrongly assume that it is super easy for everyone else to understand what you are doing. And it is not...
That's right, but that's why you should always assume people don't have a clue about what you're building so you need to explain it as easy as it gets! Anyways, it's a cool product, keep us updated on what you decide
Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad you like it. :) I will keep updating! We are planning to release first public version by the end of Q1/ early Q2 2021.
