Do people still use RSS readers?

I haven't used an RSS reader in years, yet I'm wondering if other still do? Maybe an opportunity to reinvent it.

Feedly is great. I miss Google Reader though.

Perhaps a re-invention opportunity could be to create a voice app for google home that reads your rss feed? I have personally never used RSS feeds much but since releasing an audiobook reader (playing audiobooks from librivox) voice application for google assistant, I have got a lot of messages on reddit to see if that app could be extended to custom RSS feeds.

It is a good idea! How is the quality of text to speech software nowadays?

They are fairly advanced now. I just created a text2speech audio for a book summary and it turned out quite well.

I'm using it. But mostly for daily news. I mean I have other topics there but I spent most time on that topic.

I use RSS daily as it makes it faster / easier for me to catch up on the news and happenings that I care about. There are no algorithms, no ads and no other distractions.

Yes. It's an easy way to stay up-to-date with a set of blogs without having to manually check them, or put up with pesky popup notifications distracting you.

I prefer signing up to receive email updates, but many blogs don't have them.

I use RSS for getting Upwork notifications on new jobs for specific searches. Vienna is open source and seemed to do the best compared to others.

Never used RSS before that and I'm amazed on how useful it is.

Unfortunately many content producers seem to have abandoned the concept - or just provide a feed of headlines or excerpts. Not really how it make sense to use.

Probably also because, with tracking done via js, it does not count as a hit and has little analytics information. Sad reason.

I am still a fan - but it feels to be dying.

I’m using Feedly and I can recommend it. Great Google Reader replacement.

I still do. I prefer it to email subscriptions.

I haven't used an RSS reader in years too, the last one was Google Readers.
It was an awesome tool, I never found a tool that was as easy as Google Readers. :/

yeah, remember Google Reader. I guess people moved to use platforms like Reddit and Twitter.
