How do you stay balanced? (Group Chat)

I was wondering out of pure curiosity what you fellow hackers do to stay balanced throughout the day?

Do you meditate, exercise, journal?

What routines work for you and when you look back on a day that went really well, what made the difference?

Thanks!

Currently I'm not doing a lot of active activities to stay balanced. I can however feel uneasy when I'm doing something else than building on my project. I just want to get back to my work. This is problematic for me sometimes, and I need to keep in mind that life is important too. So I'm trying to figure out tricks for me to handle the mental part of it. 😄

    • When unplanned interruptions occurs I'm trying to accept that I won't work on my project now and instead plan my activities for the next time I'll get back to work, in my head. it helps me relax, I can drop it after I've arranged some things in my head.
    • I have decided which days I'm going to work, so I always have 2 days dedicated for my project each week. It makes it easier for me to not think about my project outside of those days.
    • I do have a lot of motivation to work most days, but some days it just doesn't do. I'm accepting the fact and try to do other activities to relax. I think obsession and force yourself to work no matter what is bad.

Will be interesting to hear if you have any good tricks.

Interesting to hear your feedback @Kansuler!

For me, outlining my intentions in the morning is important, and reminding myself that there's only so much I can do in one day. I'm a bit like you in that I get frustrated at distractions and unproductive days, but as you said, this is just part of the journey.

Other things that help me are ensuring that I exercise and meditate at least once a day. I find that by early/mid-afternoon I need to meditate to gather my thoughts and have a productive finish to the day.

      Hope that helps!
