I'm working on a project and planning to launch by end of next week. I have only have a few things that need to be done. But I'm struggling to stop procrastinating. I'm afraid no one is going to want my product. I don't have an audience either. It will be awhile before anyone even gives it a glance. How do you all stay motivated to keep going?
It’s lot of just consistency. I’m not super motivated every single day but I’m falling in love with the process and not the outcome. This has helped a lot.
One thing that helps me is to do SOMETHING every day. Doesn’t matter if it is 15minutes or 8hrs. Just to keep momentum. Build the habit of this then it take a lot less effort to do it down the road.
Not everyone will want your product but when you do find the people who need it this becomes an energy boost.
I believe Motivation can fluctuate, and it's perfectly normal to have ups and downs. The key is to find what works best for you and to keep experimenting with different approaches until you find a strategy that consistently keeps you motivated.
red bulls man :D
I love the process. I'm working on a problem I want to solve for myself and enjoy learning more about. And I love the work. I remind myself that the alternative to working on my project is sitting around doing nothing.
Obviously, there are days of self-doubt, but the key is to interpret that as a sign that you're pushing yourself. You can't expect to take risks and get out of your comfort zone without self-doubt. I take a break when I need to and tell myself that pushing through now is what will result in growth and breakthroughs. Take the scared thoughts as a sign that you're growing and on the right track. You just need to keep going.
You're not alone in your feelings. Here's a quick guide to push through:
View the Launch as a Learning Step: Success or not, there's value in the experience.
Break Tasks Down: Small achievements can build momentum.
Get Early Feedback: Even from just friends or peers.
Find Accountability: Share your progress with someone.
Remember, every great venture starts with a step. Push forward and good luck with your launch!
I just enjoy the grind and if I succeed I will have a life that I visioned for myself :-)
I tend to try 2 things to stay motivated. 1) just get started on something, usually motivation will come in the way of momentum and 2) seek out things to inspire me, it can be a podcast, it can be an inspirational video of Steve Jobs giving a speech, it can be taking an accounting of my life situation and wanting to maintain this lifestyle.
Whatever it ends up being for you, good luck!
Indomitable will power.
I second what many people have said. It's not about loving the product or the project itself, it's about how much you enjoy doing things.
I have found that having a personal goal to achieve helps a lot to be motivated. I personally got tired of working in the corporate world and value my personal freedom a lot, so I devote 3 hours every day to my side project, because I know it is my way out (hopefully at least xD)
Can you give the choice to select more than 1 option, I do it for 3/4,
2.Building a product that solves you own problem: It used to be an unsolvable problem, now it's not
I was in the similar position when I wanted to ship my API service. So i published my api on rapidAPI on 13th October.
I was thinking too much that what if people won't love my API service.
Its struggling to get my first paying customer.
Some developer tested my API and didn't continue using it.
I followed with them a lot of times to give me feedback why they didn't continue using the service. No one replied.
These days, I am doing so many things to get customers for my API service.
Few days ago, i answered Quora questions related to API. Today i got to know that most of my answers are collapsed. I didn't even know about this quora moderator thing.
I am learning as I go.
What keeps me motivated is escaping this 9-5 job.
No one! But similar to the first one. Believing in the 'propose' in the 'why' we are doing this!
My main motivation is the love for the project and the fact something I build would be solving someone's problems. The usage and happiness of the users is what keeps me motivated, as something I built, made a positive difference in someone's life
I don't think it's a lack of motivation that keeps you procrastinating but rather the presence of fears. Try to address them one by one.
Why did you decide to build this product in the first place? What problem are you trying to solve? Keeping your why in mind will help you to stay focused and motivated.
You have to take motivation out of the equation. My work pattern is to set a schedule, then it becomes a problem of keeping that schedule. Did you solve all of your problems in a 3 hour block? No, but you moved the needle and made progress.
if you are interested, we can work together, I can help you with marketing.
I don't believe in motivation. I just keep going because I know there is a better life-style out there than slaving to a 9-5
