How to get your brand mentioned everywhere?

In association with Linkhouse.

Note: Much thanks to @sethking for encouraging me to write this article.

Once you’ve built a product, the next thing you need to do is to tell the world about it. Now, this might be daunting at first, but this article might change that perspective.

This advice can be applied whether or not you have a marketing budget. We’ve used these tactics time and time again in niches like crypto, software, apparel, food, automobiles, finance, etc.

Imagine an octopus.

What does it have?

Tentacles. A lot of it.

You need the same.

Your product needs to be mentioned and/or featured on as many places as possible so that,

More chances of a possible customer seeing the product and trying it, and
You can capitalize on the fact that your product has been mentioned on those places (i.e., As seen on Indie Hackers, Hubspot, and Sprout Social).

But how do you actually make it happen?

First, you need to make a list of publications that are publishing content that mention your competitors. The easiest (and free) way to do this is to go to Ubersuggest and search your competitors to see which sites link to them. Take note of all the sites here because we’re going high volume.

Most of the time your competitors will be mentioned in a listicle (i.e, 10 AI writing tools trending now). In this case, you can reach out to the author of the article and ask him to include your product as well. As a thank you, give him a trial account for some time. Use the most premium package for this.

Same tactic goes for reviewers. They’ll be much eager since they’re already running a review site and they need products to review.

You can expand your list of publications by looking for similar publications in the same niche. You can do this by going to a site like FeedSpot. They have top X blogs within any niche listed as articles. Some of these sites may be abandoned, depending on the niche, but it’s a pretty good tactic.

Don’t eliminate small blogs just because they’re small. We’ve gotten full feature articles from small blogs in exchange for a 90-day trial for premium accounts for a software product. Then we used those feature articles to get into some top tier publications.

If you’re writing a blog for your brand, you can repurpose the written content on Medium. It’s a good idea since the platform already gets a huge number of tech and culture savvy readers who are willing to pay for subscriptions and most of them appreciate Indies. Great combination, right?

Also, utilize the comment section on Medium as well. Don’t be spammy. Just say “Hey, love this article. I’ve built a X (product) for Y (target audience). Great tool for Z (your main selling point). Use this link to get a 30-day trial. Much love.”

I’ve seen much success with Twitter and YouTube than Instagram or Facebook. With Twitter you can just start shooting Tweets and comments, but with YouTube, you’ll have a better chance doing it after you’ve built enough social equity from articles. Then you have enough ‘clout’ to be deemed ‘worthy’ in YouTubers’ eyes. Again, same tactic here; offer value in return for a review.

This is just a start. You can go to niche forums and start posting there. You can start a Github page for your product. Yes you can sell products there too. I haven’t done it personally, but I’ve seen many sales pages on it.

The key is to not spam, but to offer value to potential users. People love deals, discounts, coupons. The key is to get enough users to sustain the platform to run and use any profits to accelerate the ROI of these tactics.

Thank you, I'm liking the tool suggestions too. I'm building a free community so it's a bit different but I think most of what you said still applies. If anyone's interested, it's for techies collaborating on social impact: developmenthackers.com

I need to get the brand out there as well right :)
I can't give people free trials because it's already free but I'll think about what we can give. If anybody's got thoughts on this, I'm always eager to learn !

In this day and age, getting your brand mentioned everywhere is key to success. But how do you get media outlets to sit up and take notice?

There are actually a number of ways to make sure your latest offering gets the representation it deserves online. Here are our top ten tips for getting your brand mentioned everywhere:

Use the tools available on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. If you've got a lot of followers, consider putting out a call for entries on these platforms. This can be particularly effective if you promise to reward the winner with free products or services. If you have a smaller following, use Facebook Ads to target people who are likely to be interested in your product – and make sure they know about it! Ask them to 'like' your Facebook page or retweet your post about it so that their friends can see it too.

Consider setting up a blog specifically for the purpose of getting your brand mentioned everywhere. You could include links back to your own website in each post, as well as sharing any articles or other content that might be of interest to readers who follow the blog regularly.

If you have an email list, send them an email asking if they would be willing to share information about their experience with others through word-of-mouth
