My name is Vadim, and I’m a Product Designer with 7 years of experience.
Over the years, I’ve developed, tested, and sold numerous landing pages and websites.
Today, I’m going to tell you about the fundamental rules for designing the perfect landing page to increase conversion and user satisfaction.
I'll try to keep it as concise and informative as possible.
Your task is to convey your product's main idea to the user and build trust. In the headline, state your USP (unique selling proposition), preferably in this format: What, How, Why.
Build trust by showing the best reviews or successful case studies. Show statistics, for example, how many users have already purchased your product.
It might seem obvious, but make sure to include a prominent CTA. Make it easily accessible and visually noticeable.
Professional visual design adds credibility to your site. Micro-animations and interactive animations create a positive user experience on your site.
Create a short demo video of your product or service. Video content works better than text. Prepare a short video (up to 1 minute) where you explain who your product is for and how it works. Even if you just record yourself explaining the benefits of your product, it will work great and increase trust in you and your product. Why? Because people buy from people.
Your landing page should have reviews, but to get the most out of them, follow these guidelines:
Also, don’t forget to add logos of the companies you’ve worked with.
Feedback forms are good, but live chat or the option to message you on social media works better. Your site visitors expect a response from a human, not a bot, so give them the option to contact you through chat or social media.
Chatting with a potential lead already narrows the sales funnel.
Launching your site is just the beginning! Invest in quality analytics tools, watch how users behave on your site, and study the statistics (in my agency, designers handle this). Talk to your users and observe them. This will provide many insights for improving your site!
I often post cases on Twitter about redesigning landing pages and the design process of Web3 and SaaS products. Here's an example.
Leave a comment if you found this interesting. If there’s demand, I’ll make a second part.
Thank you!
I love the analogy of the first section being like a first date. It really emphasizes the importance of a strong first impression!
I have a question for you. What’s the most challenging part of designing a landing page for you, Vadim?
Thank you, Adam. The most challenging (and interesting) part is generating conception. Embed brand meaning and value in the design system
🌟 Awesome. What are some common mistakes you see in landing page design that can hurt conversion rates?
👏
Can you share an example of a headline that effectively communicates a USP?
I provided good example above - Create stunning portfolio that gets you noticed
About reviews, I can only add legit review videos/links or logos of companies once I have a substantial amount of active users, On product launch day how should i design my review section on landing page?
During the beta test, before launch, you can ask your test users to provide reviews
Valuable checklist, thank you. What tool would you recommend for Landing Page analytics?
Thank you!
HotJar is the best for LP or small website analytics.
Super insightful and well done
Thank you!
What chat widgets do you use?
It's custom design
Thanks for the valuable tips, Vadim! Your advice on leveraging genuine reviews and video content for landing pages is spot on.
Thank you for your feedback!
This is a fantastic breakdown of landing page essentials! Your emphasis on clear communication, trust-building, and user experience is spot on. The inclusion of practical tips like the importance of video reviews and social proof is invaluable.
I particularly appreciate the focus on testing and analysis. It's clear that you understand the iterative nature of landing page optimization.
I'd love to hear more about your experiences with A/B testing and conversion rate optimization (CRO) strategies.
Hey, thank you for the feedback. Maybe in the future I will make a case study about A/B testing
hi Vadim, you have a typo in your landing page - "Get to marker faster" - should be "market"
Thank you, updating
Thank you! Recently, I created some free startup templates, so this post is very useful to me!
Thanks
Very informative! What can you say about our landing page here https://www.keyeicon.com? Your thoughts will be highly appreciated.
Hey, thanks!
After a cursory review here are what I noticed
Crisp, concise! Design(after copy) is a key lever that makes or breaks LPs.
Exactly
Thanks Vadim - super insightful. Sometimes, it's hard to convince the CEO of certain design choices. I'll forward him your article, so he sees sense in what I'm trying to incorporate or suggestions I advise against.
Thank you! The best way to convince - is to show results
wow that last image with the transformation was so on point!
Thank you!
Really wish I had seen this a year and a half ago :P
Very important piece!
Thank you!
Thank you for the value!
Do you have any recommendations for substitutes to use when my product doesn't have reviews yet?
It depends on the niche, but your main goal is to get the first reviews. You can offer product for free and get review for it
Do you recommend landing pages for saas ?
It's vital
Real reviews makes sense. It is so easy to sniff out fake stuff in the very beginning.
Exactly
These are actually very useful. Going to try it for a month with Selftalk.ing and see how it converts! Thank you.
Thank you. You already have a good LP!
Very useful. What can you talk about in the second part?
There are a lot of topics to discuss
For a beginner who don't have any clients . What approach would you suggest?
