I sold my side project

Hello Hackers,

Last month I have this idea for a side project. I built and launchd it. Now I sold it.

I created it solve my own itch. Which is whenever I brainstorm an idea I always search for branding domains. Meaning domain name should match with twitter handler. To do that I need to goto another tab and search for domain and username.

It's time consuming work and I thought why not create a service for that. Voila the born of Get Social Domain

Launched on IndieHackers nothing happened.

Launched on Hacker News and got featured on front-page. Server went crazy.

Launched on ProductHunt and had 76 votes so far.

Launched on several other platform but nothing seems to move the needle. And then I started to marketing it very slowly.

Site receives not lot of users like may be 200 visitors per week and I'm not that expert in marketing so I decided to sell it and focus on my upcoming projects.
Put my project on Microns and Buyer bought it today. It's not lot of money but given the amount of time I spend on this project and value I decided to accept it. Finally he transferred the money via USDT.

What next to me? Well started another project gaclient

Great. Selling it a really good end for any project.

Do you mind disclosing the price?

Hi Bernard, I sold it for 1K USD. Not high money to brag about it but it's my very first internet money and I got goosebumps when I think about it. Cheers.

You should always humble-brag about a great outcome. $1K is a great outcome! It makes you internalize it. Trains your brain to go for that feeling again.

        Did it generate revenue?

I was initially planned to put Adsense but needs to wait for their approval and then I decided to add NameCheap affiliate link.

I don't know what happened with that affiliate honestly it doesn't give me any commissions at all. People seems clicking that link but they are not registering with it.

Mmm I do have multiple projects but three of them are very promising so I will be doing that.

I will post my progress in my twitter.

Hey! Without you these things are not possible. Microns is great. Keep up the good work.

Hey @rajasimon this is brilliant, what a clever little business that is, and to do it within a month. Brava 👏

Did you feel any reluctance to selling it i.e. what ifs? or were you quite alright with it?

Yes I have some feeling that what if I did that marketing idea instead of that one. But in the end profit is matters. I hope the new owner will unlock the potential of this.

    Saving this for later
