Initially startups do outreach and skip content marketing, did that change recently?

Since venturing into the startup world in 2021 as a technical solo founder, I always had to pursue advice on the non-technical stuff such as marketing. When starting out as a boostrapped project, it's commonly adviced that you should focus on direct outreach and skip any SEO/Content Marketing work.

But I'm wondering if this memo changed recently due to all the advancements in AI and text generation. What took 10 hours to write can now take 3 with the right automations setup. So if this change means that it would be good idea for founders to semi-automate their content marketing even in the very early stages.

To be clear, by early stage I mean you have a few users and maybe handful of customers not a blank zero. Also by 'content automation' I wouldn't solely rely on ChatGPT to generate my blogs, but it for sure can help me with research, ideation, drafting, and reviewing.

What do you guys think?

Absolutely, leveraging AI for content marketing in the early stages can be a game-changer. Automation can streamline processes, saving time and resources. While it's crucial to maintain authenticity, using tools like ChatGPT for research, ideation, drafting, and reviewing can enhance efficiency without compromising quality. As technology evolves, integrating semi-automation into your strategy can be a smart move for startup founders.

But since all founders have access to the same technology don't you think that means nothing changed in terms of the level of importance for content marketing? I'm curious also, did you or any founder you know manage to get their first customers (let's say first 100) from just content marketing?

Yup I would agree with you and thats why I made tools that will help with SEO research for blogging. What usually could take couple of hours to do the research now can be done within few minutes.

The tool that I created able to go perform analysis for thousands of keywords which is specific for the market and target customer that you choose. And then give you the top 100 keywords which is analyzed based on its traffic, trending, intention and difficulty.

With this keywords you will know what type of blog and what keywords to target to maximize potential readers.

Kinda bias but respect the hustle 🫡 I'd try to go a bit less salesy with this

I'm also curious about this. I have a running tech product but I don't do any content marketing which would be things like (running articles, blogs, etc..). I've always been skeptical about the value of blogging especially in the age of ChatGPT, is it just a matter of gaming the algorithm?

Seems to be hard to find an informed answer since it's all to early, here's a link to the same post I made on the startups subreddit if you wanna see what people are saying there https://www.reddit.com/r/startups/comments/181g3mq/early_stage_startups_do_outreach_and_skip_content/

Thanks. Checking it out now. I'm happy to generate blogs, but the investment of time is huge. At my last company we had entire full-time jobs where people produced these blogs that got single digit views per month. As a solo-founder it is hard to justify that kind of time.
