A couple of weeks back, I asked around for insights on what to expect from launching on BetaList in 2021, and promised to share our results for others thinking of doing the same. Here we go.
We made the free submission on BetaList for Flowrite a couple of months ago, and it took 1,5 months before we were finally featured on the first Saturday of June.

I guess the fact it was the weekend affected the results somewhat. Also, it caught us with surprise, so we didn’t do any promotion on the actual launch day aside from social posts across our channels. Although, I doubt more promotion from us would have made much of a difference. However, I was left wondering why we never made it to the trending section even though the number of likes we received would have justified it?

After the launch day, the referral traffic from BetaList has flowed in slow and steady. It has created a nice long tail of signups considering the launch day results, but still, the overall results are very modest.
Is it worth it to launch on BetaList in 2021?
Based on our own results and what I’ve learned from others that have shared theirs transparently, I’d say that it’s definitely not worth it to go for the paid option to skip the waiting queue. Even though you would be in a rush to launch, the traction you’ll get is not worth the price tag. Even if you submit your startup without paying for it, I wouldn’t hold my breath but instead focus on other channels such as Product Hunt and Hacker News.
That being said, there’s nothing to lose by launching on BetaList, except the time you spent on creating your submission. One particular upside is that you’ll earn a new do-follow link that can help you with SEO. Of course, it’s also something new and exciting to share with your audience if you’ve already started to build one.
Interesting read. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for sharing, I thought as much. You got quite a lot of signups considering visits, so it was certainly worth it.
