Make your marketing “realer”

If I ever write a marketing book this image will be the front cover.

Same title. Same painting. Same subreddit. One gets 300 votes. The other gets 70,000.

Make your marketing REALER.

While I agree with the the overall point, I think this particular example may be a r/UpvotedBecauseGirl situation.

Haha! Yes, definitely helps. Just tried to post this in the subreddit.

Yep, more meant as an illustrative example.

Good point. I’ve seen this applied to contact support pages where they say “You will be speaking with Dan” along with almost a full page photo of Dan wearing the company tshirt or he’s sitting at his desk or something. Since you mentioned it, I’m curious do you have any examples you’ve personally enjoyed for email sign offs?

The upvote difference might not be 233x but across 100 posts you'd still see a big difference. We see the same thing every day on the Indie Hackers forum.

The three titles I remember off the top of my head are all the most real:

Here's another example from Pat Walls blog. A more human title and BOOM! Massive jump:

      GitH

You're making all kinds of sense 👍

Any tips on where to read more about this? Specifically as it pertains to sites like Reddit / Indie Hackers/ Hacker News?

Nice touch. By real we also meant different to kind of stand out in a sea. Many years ago it was just addressing Hi Dan in an email. Anything successful will eventually stop being effective when everyone does that. Till then this is super cool. Like the examples.

Thanks for that Harry! Will try to apply it to my next posts on Reddit
