Hey all,
I'm new here so thought I'd introduce myself and idea. So I have ran an online travel-related business for 10 years however COVID has seriously affected us to the point I'm not sure if it will return.
I've always tried new things but never seriously for my head down and worked at them until recently. I'm self taught web developer but haven't kept too up to date so going through some pretty intensive retraining at the moment.
The focus for myself and brother (we are both in this together) is to create Web projects and we have one in particular, which could disrupt a service within a niche. It's a specialist market servicing professionals and having spoken to a couple of people within the industry and professionals themselves, they all see the opportunity.
This is great as far as we see so it's now a case of building the web-app and gaining traction.
I'll be honest, we find this a huge challenge but also very exciting. The service is not mainstream and many would not even know they exist but it can save users a lot of cash.
I keep having bouts of incredible ambition and see the idea being a success then, a few hours later, complete self doubt and wonder if it will work - this is causing real anxiety I need to get over.
I try each day to work through a small element - my brother is the main developer and he is incredibly driven and focused. I just panic a little and see the need for this to earn revenue for us at some point.
I'm sure the feelings are completely normal but when moving from one business we have built to another, I just see a giggle mountain.
What @rab says.
This 'Mom Test' IH podcast is worth a listen to help you understand if you are going down the right track, especially if it is a product addressing something new.
Try to validate your idea. People will say "sounds cool" for free. Get them to give their email. Get them to pay for exclusive early access. Although that may sound stressful you will remove doubt about the idea.
Welcome and thanks for sharing! The daily rollercoaster of feels is very common and will continue. Embrace it, sometimes the anxiety could be probing at something that needs attention, whether it's product development, user feedback etc. Don't forget to take time off to exercise, some folks here have mentioned how rushing to launch has impacted their health.
