Last week, we launched Newsletter Glue 2.0 on Product Hunt.
Our goal is simple, let people know that we exist - Exposure. Everything else is just a bonus!
Here are the stats from our launch on Product Hunt:
At first, we thought everything was ok. Until someone emails our founder Lesley, they say our promo code isn't working.
After some quick check, we forgot that our promo code has no "%" character: It must be "PH15" but we posted it as "PH15%".
After checking our Plausible Analytics dashboard, I found three pending checkouts that day. Oh no!
Maybe you want to launch on Product Hunt sooner or later.
Our recommendations are:
You need to check everything three times, your links, texts, images, and promo code. Check all of them and make sure there's no mistake at all.
After your Product is live, it's doesn't automatically go to the front page. Get your first 20 upvotes and five comments as fast as possible. To achieve that, you need to ask your community on Slack, Twitter, etc.
Let the Product Hunters do the magic once your Product is featured (listed on the front page)!
FYI, we chose to use this first launch as a test. Rather than spending two weeks preparing for our ProductHunt launch, we did everything in a day. This allowed us to quickly test whether PH is the right channel for us without over-investing.
Back in 2017/2018, it seemed like WordPress plugins got more traction on PH, but it looks like the PH community has moved on to other things like AI, No-Code, Crypto/NFT, etc.
Whatever happens, happens!
