We have reached 1,000 registered users on Overtracking Analytics this week 🥳. Some of those registrations are thanks to the strategy we have carried out in X.
In total, I have contacted 900 people since September. That makes an average of 25 people contacted per day although this has not been the case every day. Some days there have been 100 or 50 and others, although very few, none.
Our strategy 🚀
First, we segmented the users, then we personalized the message and after a month we analyzed the results obtained.
Segmentation 💙
We realized that we had targets with different degrees of interest, which forced us to communicate with them in different ways. We divided the audience into 3 groups:
Personalization 👇
For each audience group, we created a personalized message, taking into account the degree of interest shown by the users of each of them:
Results 🔥
After a month, we analyzed 100 results from each group and this is what we found. 👀
Users who had participated in a raffle and followed us
31% responded to the DMs and of these, 38% ended up registering.
Users who followed us on X
24% responded to the DMs and of these, 21% ended up registering.
Users who did NOT follow us
23% responded to the DMs and of these, 20% ended up registering.
TOTAL results (grouping all):
Of the 900 messages sent we have achieved 54 registered users.
However, out of the 54 registered users, we have not generated any revenue as of yet. Many are trying the 90-day free code and others have not added their website, so we have to wait to see the financial results.
Feel free to comment :)
I had never seen real cases of "cold DM" on Twitter. Thank you very much for sharing :)
Thank you m8 :)
Thanks for sharing -- these are better results (in terms of registration) than I would have anticipated. Too early to tell how it pans out as revenue. Did you feel 90 days was necessary (as opposed to, say, 30 days) to get people to click through?
Thanks!
30 days might be enough, but we thought that 90 days would be more attractive as it is a new tool :)
Can we see the message you sent?
Interesting, it seems X has changed some of the algorithms around DM because I know a marketing business in Virginia that tried something similar under the old Twitter just after Covid and ran into a heap of red tape and spam moderation causing her account to be ghost banned.
Now if you pay you are allowed to send many DMs and nothing happens :)
Thanks for sharing. I never expected this much potential from cold DMs.
Thank you!
Cool, thanks for sharing. How much time did you invest in this strategy and the 900 DMs?
Thanks! 20 minutes a day for a month and a half.
Thanks for sharing. Did you get all positive reaponses?
Yes, all responses were positive or no response.
Interesting.
Did you try the same strategy on Linkedin?
No, but I'm going to try it now with my personal profile. I will contact 100 people in november.
wow the numbers are higher than expected. What were your DM templates for each segment?
We were giving away a 90-day redeemable code to try it for free and give us feedback. All messages were sent in Spanish to people in Spain.
This is an example:
"Hola, Nombre Soy Elsa de Overtracking. Estamos construyendo una alternativa a Google Analytics fácil de usar y comprometida con la privacidad y nos gustaría saber si te interesaría probarla gratis 🙂"
And this:
Hey Nombre!
Interesting !
Have you used any automation tool to do it?
I used Elsa, a real person :) hehehe
I wonder. Did you receive any unfollows using this strategy? I see it as the only downside, as bombing your followers with a message to try your service may seem like an ad.
No, in our DM's we invited people to try the tool for free and those who follow us are interested in knowing more about us, that's why the response rate has been good.
It’s interesting that there isn’t much difference in DM response between your followers and people who don’t follow you. I’d expect your followers to have a significantly higher response rate. How did you curate your list of non-followers?
Non-followers are people who mainly follow our competitors and are interested in zero-cookie web analytics solutions :)
Did you meet any limitations for DM?
Were there any bans from X?
The day we sent the most DMs was 100. The usual was to send between 25 and 50. We paid Twitter Blue and so we had no problems with limitations.
Very nice!
Thanks!
Congrats on hitting 1,000 users! I got a question, how did you identify the 900 people to contact?
Thanks! We contacted people who followed us and we didn't follow them. And we also did a raffle for 10 lifetime accounts, we contacted everyone who participated. We also contacted people who were following our competitors and not us.
Thanks for sharing the result! I'm intending to do the same thing and your case provides really helpful data for reference! 👍
Thanks! I recommend you to send DMs especially to people who follow you and get more followers to send them more DMs :)
Got it! Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your experience. Very useful!
Thank you! 🤜🤛
Good marketing! I am one of those 900 users!
thanks for sharing
You rock :)
