Lector is a content aggregator for the modern web, where just subscribing to RSS/Atom feeds doesn't cut anymore because everything is someone's walled garden. It's funny I'm positioning it like that now, because the only thing we can do at launch is actually subscribing to RSS/Atom feeds 😅 Guess I didn't launch it too, as that embarrasses the hell out of me.
As the objective last week was to launch the MVP, I spent most of the time laboring over the launch blog post, and writing a public roadmap. I haven't written a public anything in years, so it was super painful and actually ate up a bunch of time I could've used for actually building new things. I guess one main thing to get better at is making writing words not painful.
Besides writing, some time also went into general bug fixing of the rougher edges where new users certainly would get scratched. Still tons to do in that area, but new features are priority unless something is just plainly broken.
Speaking of new features, the goal for this week is to allow Lector into some of those walled gardens. Right now, I'm focusing on allowing users to subscribe to YouTube channels from Lector, which is one of the things I personally miss the most. I already have a proof of concept of actually using their API, so now I just need to plug that into Lector itself.
