What SaaS products does your startup use that you couldn't run the product without?

For me its:

  • Auth0 for user authentication
  • Mailchimp for email marketing
  • Stripe for payments
  • Trello for task tracking and management
  • GitHub to code
  • Figma for design
  • Notion for company documentation/knowledgebase
  • Vercel to host/deploy websites

What are the product that you or your SaaS couldn't run without, let me know in the comments below:

Yeah I'm planning to shift to Linear soon 😊😎

      1. 1

It's been great. What are you currently using?

          1. 1

Trello is great too, just the usability and performance of Linear is way better.

            1. 4

I use ClickUp but the poor performance of this tool is annoying. I read that Linear.app works perfectly for tech teams.

              1. 1

It's definitely better compared to all-in-one tools.

I try to use less software as possible, right now I'm using Stripe and GCP, but planning to use some 'Error Monitoring' solution.

  4. 2

I have created a side project website called https://www.nocodefriendly.com/ about Sass and no-code software.

As it is in Spanish, I shared this document in English in case someone needs it or wants to contribute other Sass.
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LuMgnNwM53Q6I7mRvgX3N18CavmcIU0ExpTdsodxMQs/edit#gid=2122587238

Great idea for a thread. The usuals plus Chat GPT from this year onwards 😅

    1. 1

Is there a really good, quality intro to Chat GPT and good use cases?

      1. 1

To start with you can ask Chat GPT itself, the most fun way to explore is to give different types of prompts and get blown away by Chat GPT's responses. Here is an article you can read to help you understand it's capabilities at a high level: https://ai.plainenglish.io/100-useful-chat-gpt-prompts-to-boost-your-creativity-and-productivity-518a23a4326a

    2. 1

And that is so trueee!! Can't forget ChatGPT 🤣

  14. 2

Some awesome stuff here. I started using Workflowy - https://workflowy.com/ for tasks and bugs tracking. Super intuitive and nice, can recommend

  15. 2

    Mailchimp, Github/Gitlab.

    • Shortcut (https://app.shortcut.com) to manage tasks, epics etc...
    • Undraw (https://undraw.co/) for SVG images to illustrate blog posts / empty sections / get icons / branding (undraw plus)
    • Netlify to host my landing pages / blogs for the moment
    • Stripe
    1. 2

      Undraw is incredible!

    2. 1

Flaticon and noun project also helped me a lot with illustrations

      1. 1

        Interesting! Thanks for sharing.

Also in my list : https://favicon.io/ that I use during the very first versions to convert emojis to favicons and in no time I have the illustration I need :)

  16. 2

    Canva. Irreplaceable!

  17. 2

Other than the usual Github, Stripe for https://tolt.io we use Postmark for emails, Height for tasks, Magic for authentication, and AWS for hosting.

    1. 1

@yxngdano How's your experience with Magic?

      1. 1

Amazing! We used Auth0 before, but I like Magic more.
The main thing is that I don't like passwords anymore, and Magic was the perfect solution :)

Great post! I would not say we cannot live without any of it, I do believe that all product has alternatives, so if they disappeared, we could find the next best option. So I can only add things that make us more productive overall, and I learned to love them:

    • Slack - fastest communication, great flexibility
    • Asana - keeps me focused on my to do
    • Figma - designers love it
    • Miro - when I just quickly want to map out an idea
    • Canva - when I just need something in a different size, very quick to do even as an amateur.
  20. 1

    AWS for cloud hosting
    G Suite for productivity

Can someone do statistics on how many software used the most ?
    Figma mantioned 22 times ..

  23. 1

Some of the best tools we've used so far:

Glad to see many others using similar tools.

  24. 1

    For CodeSprout it's:

    • Heroku for app deployment/DB
    • Klaviyo for marketing automation
    • Stripe for payments
    • GitHub for version control and also project management
    • Google Docs/Sheets/Keep for ideation, organization, finances, checklists, quick notes, etc.
    • New Relic for APM

Also, I can probably live without it but Hotjar has been super useful for seeing how users are clicking around on the site

  25. 1

This post is pretty good, getting to know what most of the people use

    We use
    Stripe for payments
    Figma for design
    Next.js for front end
    Nest.js for back end
    Typeorm and postgres for database
    Jira for product management
    Slack for chat
    Github for source code
    Mailchimp for email marketing
    Auth0 for authentication
And github actions and AWS for CI CD

Hope you like our tech stack

For me running T.LY URL Shortener, it is Cloudflare and Stripe. These services would be impossible to build as a solo dev and do so much to make my life easier. Cloudflare does a ton but primarily helps to protect the site from DDOS attacks, and of course, Stripe to accept payments is crucial.

  27. 1

    Freshdesk for support
    Tawk.to for chat
    Github for code

  28. 1

    Figma for prototyping
    Notion for task tracking
    Netlify for hosting
    Substack for email marketing

  29. 1

Slack, Helpscout, Shortcut and our own apps contentstudio.io (for social media) and usermaven.com (for analytics).

  30. 1

I'm going to add a category that nobody has shared yet:
    Our own products.

In B2B apps I think the most vital tool of all is "dogfooding", aka using our own product as a key pillar of running our company.
This is the only way we can be on the frontlines of the frustrations that actual users will encounter when they try, not to "give it a try", but to actually use the software for productive reasons.

I've done tens of live demonstrations to users and tens of 2-hour live calls with our paid users (I do 4 month) to showcase the software, answer questions, etc.
But even that is not as powerful as editing our own videos with our own AI editor (Nuro) to find out that oh, we just broke the player in Safari, or dammit, I just made change X in the editor and it wasn't reflected in the final result, and so on.

By acting like a paid user does, you see way clearer than when you act like the vendor supporting users.

    So...
TL;DR : the first product we all should use that we couldn't run the startup without is
    "our own product"

  35. 1

    Figma, stripe, firebase, clickup, GitHub

  36. 1

Vercel, Render, and Stripe. I think everything else could be built to 50% of the quality with pretty low cost, or using manual workarounds, but those 3 are make or break and have a ton of overhead to replace.

We have an operationally intensive business with a wide scope at a super early stage - lots of process, support agents, etc. - so we need lots of internal tools! So:

    Retool

    Other:
Planetscale - safe database schema merges!
AWS Lambda + Function URLs + SQS - easy scale for API & workers!
Linear - track issues to each branch in a way that PM can live with
    Github - obv
BigQuery + Metabase - instant analytics!

  50. 1

    AWS Amplify for hosting.
    AWS lambda
    Jira
    Laravel vapor

If anyone else here is selling WordPress themes/plugins, I'd recommend Freemius. It's so nice not having to manage an eCommerce store on your own site.

  55. 1

Figma, slack, Asana am of course our very own tool for product discovery https://insight7.io.
We’re publicly launching next week and you can help support us by joining our page https://www.producthunt.com/products/insight7

Much the same as you, with the addition of Firebase for the Database, Storage and Auth

Great question Ayush. if you're using Trello, I'm working on SamePage which is making task/information retrieval 10x faster.. I think you'd really like it.

Here's a 4m Loom demo, would love to hear what you think.

    fantastic question

We actually use the majority of the products you suggested.

However, in addition to the things you specified, we also use

We use MojoAuth for user authentication.
We use Sendinblu for email marketing.

    Rest are similar.

Great stack Kinsley. if you're using Trello... I've developed SamePage which is making task/information retrieval 10x faster.. I think you'd really like it.

Isn't this the same as Figma or FigJam?

      1. 1

Check the link, it is more like a white board and it makes everything look like a rough sketch. I use Figma too, for pixel perfect stuff, Excalidraw for ideas and sketches. It keeps me from getting stuck in design when I just want to explore ideas. It's amazing.
