Who's actively using Reddit?

I've always been interested in Reddit for building my SaaS along with learning from others. However, I'm at a complete loss on finding good communities there.

Who is using Reddit and what forums are you using there?

I actually hate reddit, the slightest attempt to promote anything is met with the same reaction a vampire has when exposed to garlic. For some reason it seems to be dominated by people who would rather die than let you share something you built that you might profit from.

If you're struggling with the overwhelm, that is Reddit, take a look at GummySearch. Fed (@thefedoration), an Indie Hacker, created it and it can scour Reddit like you wouldn't believe.

(I'm a fan, but not affiliated)

Create audiences, scan for product improvement ideas and pain points. Great stuff.

Don't go to Reddit without it. 😜

      Thank you John! 🤜🤛

I'm using Reddit, mostly for technical subreddits like r/programming, r/kubernetes etc. But I've started moving to Twitter this year and I think it's much much better. From a personal standpoint, Twitter is much less toxic (and you can just unfollow when you don't like the content). For promoting products, Reddit is downright hostile. They get lots of spam so it's understandable, but it still sucks when you spend 5 hours to create genuinely interesting content and it just gets downvoted right away, never to be seen again.

Yes I agree, Reddit is super toxic site and people downvote you just because they have a bad day and it feels stupid

I'm on Reddit for a few years now, and I'm a fan!

    I love /r/Entrepreneur, /r/sideprojects, /r/indiebiz, /r/nocode and a few others.

    Happy to answer any question

Reddit is amazing for product ideas and research, less so for promotion.

I add 'site:reddit.com' when searching google for user problems I want to know more about – the posts that come up can help point you to the communities where your likely users are. I've also had success DMing users specific research questions if they've commented something related.

Promotion is another story. Many subreddits are anti any promotion to cut down spam which is fair. It's easier to be a member of a subreddit for a while and get a feel for what/when they tolerate ads. For example, r/running runs a weekly thread where you can promote anything you want.

I'm using Reddit a lot to promote my Space job board https://rocketcrew.space/
For now, I focused on 2 main themes, Space related subreddit, and Engineer related subreddit
Reddit works pretty well for me here is one of my latest posts for example
    https://www.reddit.com/r/space/comments/xyfve5/i_added_jpl_nasa_jet_propulsion_laboratory_jobs/

1.3k upvotes, it converted to around 3k visits on my site!

Here is a useful tool to find subreddit https://anvaka.github.io/sayit/?query=

      How many subscribers?

      1. 1

Do you mean how many subscribers do I have on reddit?

        1. 1

I meant how many people subscribed to your site from Reddit through your latest post.

          1. 1

It's a job board, so you can't subscribe like a normal Saas, but 25-30 people subscribed to the newsletter

I passively use Reddit. I find the community there wildly different between subreddits and lots of noise. But it is really useful sometimes!

      Which subreddits are you following?

  10. 1

I use it all the time and am actually building a tool that will help you find leads on Reddit.

However, I'm at a complete loss on finding good communities there.

A good way to find relevant communities is to simply use Google and use search terms such as "site:reddit.com <competitor 1, value proposition, how to X etc.>". You'll find loads of posts and comments this way (that are also probably relevant to you) and you can simply check which subreddits they were posted in.

So for example, your tool is an automated testing tool and "site:reddit.com automated testing" gives the subreddits:

    I hope this helps somewhat!

This is a very helpful advice. I've been on the lookout of such an advice pertaining to my niche, climate change. With your advice, some of my problems are solved, and thanks for the advice.

Super helpful advice here, thanks for that.

reddit is too serious, he doesn't allow you to promote and share but he sells the same product himself. bro, i need your vote https://www.producthunt.com/posts/switchvpn

    @mike_tempes

In the start, everyone faced the same thing we also struggled with Churnfee. First, we have to see what is the problem of the user and then provided them with the solution to their problem.

    • find problem
    • provide a solution
    • what benefits they got by using your product service

It also depends on your product and service. https://churnfree.com/ is used to reduce the churn rate of the business.
