April 6, 2026 We built a sports betting app where advisors only get paid when their picks win

Hey IH. I'm Matthew, co-founder of Betvisors.

Quick backstory: my brother and I got into sports betting when Ohio legalized it. We were bad at it. Then we found advisors on Twitter posting real picks with real betslips, started tailing them, and actually made money. We wanted to build a platform for that, but every advisor we pitched said the same thing: "just another app."

The problem was incentives. Nobody wanted to post picks for free on an unproven platform. So we built the "Tip if it Hits" model. Here's how it works:

  • An advisor posts a pick with a real betslip

  • A bettor tails the pick with one tap

  • Stripe creates a payment intent at the time of the tail

  • If the pick wins, the tip is captured. If it loses, it's canceled.

  • Advisors earn 70% of the tip. We take 30%.

No subscriptions. No upfront fees. Advisors only earn when bettors win.

We're based out of Cincinnati, OH, ~300 users, 11% payment method conversion rate (our biggest funnel leak right now). Stack is Node.js, PostgreSQL, Prisma Accelerate, Hetzner, Cloudflare, Stripe, and Brevo for email.

Launching publicly on Product Hunt April 16. Happy to answer any questions about the model, the build, or sports betting tech in general.
