MVP Launched

I had to look back at my Git commit history to see when I started on this project. It was April 2, 2021 so quite a while ago! I've started many projects over the years, but this is the first one that has seen the light of day.

I'm incredibly proud to finally launch something for myself. While I've had the amazing privilege to work on hugely popular products like Xbox, there's something special about building something for myself. I remember telling my parents I was going to start my own company when I was a kid. Now I can check that box.

I've had a chance to reflect on the last 10 months over the past week. Like I said before, this is the first project I've "finished". Maybe finished isn't the right word here since there's still a ton of things I want to add, but you know what I mean. I was wondering what made this project different and I think it has a lot to do with the concept of "product/founder fit". This is something I learned about while listening to various podcasts (including the Indie Hackers Podcast). The way I define product/founder fit is "do I like the product and the problem it solves enough to keep working on this long term?".

I think I finally found product/founder fit with Crocodile. I still have a day job where I review code pretty regularly and I feel the pain of reviewing code in GitHub every time I do. And I care A LOT about code review, more on that later. I think this combination of pain and caring is what kept me going.

I've learned a lot over the past 10 months, which I want to share in future posts. Right now, though, I'm just excited to finally launch. If you're interested in a better code review experience for your team, check out https://www.crocodile.dev.
