Hello Everyone!
I'm looking for better solutions to host email for custom domains. This is something I'd assume many developers deal with, but I never hear it discussed.
For years I've been using Namecheap to host email for my custom domains. Up until now, this has worked fine. Recently, this has definitely not been the case. I won't bore you all with the details, but essentially there have been significant times where no email was being delivered to any addresses on an entire domain through no fault of my own. In addition, I've been having constant complaints that emails I send are never delivered. All in all, I'm fed up and would really appreciate hearing who everyone uses.
Preferably, I'd want something with these features:
Even if what you're using doesn't fit my criteria, I'd love to hear who you use and why! Thanks! 🎉🎊
Ran into this issue a couple of times. Since GSuite stopped supporting my grandfathered free plan, I just use Yandex Mail. Free custom domain email that just works. Problem solved.
I don't know if this is a good solution for you, but you can use https://contact.do and create a custom contact form for each of your domains. You'll receive all the emails on your company email and you can reply to them from that email. I've been using contact.do for more than 3 years and got ZERO spam
SimpleLogin would suit all your criterias. You can also self host it on your server.
Full disclaimer: i'm its developer.
Hmm, this is very interesting. In the past, I've tried to create new alias' for every website using a simple script, but it turned out to be too much trouble for me. I never thought about making it into service, great idea!
If you could integrate this functionality with the features of a password manager, I think it'd be incredible. One-click to auto-generate a password and email alias sounds like a dream. Any ambitions to move in this direction?
Hey for now SimpleLogin doesn't have a plan to become a password manager yet but this is indeed a possibility!
If by doesn't charge per email address you mean having free email aliases, I would highly recommend Fastmail. We use it over GSuite and Office 365, and have been extremely happy with the results – very easy to setup as well. Their browser version is good, but we use a separate email client called Spark
Correct. Aliases' are what I'm referring to. Frankly, I'm not sure how I haven't heard of this service before. Everything looks great, and their privacy stance makes it even more appealing.
Not sure how good their program is, but if you'd send me your referral link, I'd be happy to use it! 👍
Yup, that's how I felt after finding it. Here's my referral link if you wanted to use it. Cheers!
I'll put it to use! Hopefully it'll help 😃
Zoho allows you to have up to 5 email addresses per custom domain and is very reliable.
