Hello everyone
Hope that everyone here together with their loved ones are safe!
I am in the ideation space and require some feedback on people who read books as well as don't have the time to read. The feedback received will help shape my product that I am thinking of launching.
Please can you take a few minutes to provide some insights on the following questions (answer the questions relative to where you fit):
Book Readers:
Non-Readers:
I will be extremely grateful to any responses received :)
Hello from book reader:
Thanks for your respone.
I have launched indiebookish.com
I love reading books about Business and money. I read 10-20 books per year because you get the knowldge of so many people that already archived things you want to archieve. You can learn of their failures and decisions.
Thanks
@Cassim, I've been brainstorming around launching a product in the books space as well. I read 50+ books in one year. Possible to connect with you and have a chat around the same?
Sure - happy to have a discussion
Book reader here;
Every now and then, depending on the circumstances. Preferably in the morning, when my mind is clear and I'm sipping from my first coffee of the day.
Getting into the mindset to read a certain book.
Just let it sink in how awesome it is that you can get to know an amount of information and knowledge in just a few hours, for which it has taken someone else a lifetime to discover.
Depends on the matter. I don't like reading novels, unless it's those classics to which references are made in everyday life, for those it enables me to understand those references. For other matter I try to process it in real-time in my brain, which usually involves thinking about the way a certain piece of information fits in with the rest. For completely new information I either underline important pieces of information, or scrabble the key takeaways down on some paper.
Some writers have a style which is incredibly difficult to follow. It has certainly something to do with the way I process information, but I like a gradual build up on the matter. First covering a bit of context, diving into it, and then expanding again into the way it can be applied. One other thing I dread is content which is needlessly spread out and expanded, and thus chapters becoming sentences having words which ultimately have no additional meaning anymore.
Great feedback - thanks!
As a book reader:
2.For me it's sticking with one book till I'm done with it. It's so tempting to switch to another one, but it usually leads to not finishing either one, so I'm trying to avoid that. Another issue is with the physical books - they take too much space. I prefer to read printed books, but because of the space issue, trying to switch to reading more on my book reader.
3.To gain a deeper perspective on a specific topic/ideas. Its also calm/meditative activity great before going to bed.
4.If its a motivation/productivity themed book, I experiment with the mentioned techniques in my daily life routine.
5.There is always a need for covering more niche/specialized topics in local languages, but that's more of a distribution and localization issue.
Great insights - Thanks for the feedback as it certainly helps!
I've read 5 books in my life so I'm a pretty good candidate for the "Non-Readers" one.
I just find it a waste of time. If I want to learn something then I'll read something much more condensed and to the point than a whole book. If I want to enjoy a story I'll watch a film. I can probably watch 10 films in the time it takes me to read one book. That's 10 times more efficient if you ask me.

I do read a lot - I just don't read books, so this question doesn't make so much sense. I read a lot of blogs and a fair bit of news, opinions pieces and wikipedia. I can't think of anything that would make me want to read books sorry.
Thanks for your response!
I am in the process of building something and will share it with you once I am done.
