Yesterday I posted the story behind the idea and creation of my new product - ClipWing. Today I already have 2 paid users. How did I do it?
I posted as much product content as possible.
It could be a new logo, a video of a loading screen, a prototype product demo, or even a text explanation of a new feature. Even while the product doesn't exist, this already stirs interest.
I interacted with people.
If someone wrote "cool idea" - I always answered it. If someone wrote a negative comment - also answered. No one is interested in following a person who only builds, but does not give feedback. When you are friendly with people, they follow you more willingly and support you, whether it's a repost of your post or a pre-order.
I wrote in public about my first sale.
The first dollar is the hardest. But when someone has already bought a product from you, it is easier for people to trust and buy. And thus the second sale I received in a couple of hours.
I'm not saying these are the only rules that work. But they definitely work! In the meantime, you can also learn more about ClipWing and pre-order it: https://clipwing.pro/ 🦋
Love this. Actually getting validation in the form of dollars for something you've created is insanely rewarding. A lot of folks are like, "Don't do it for the money," and that's good advice... but if you're HUGELY motivated by money (as I am) simply because you're hardwired that way, then this is a big thrill. Congrats!
thank you! i don't have a strong motivation for money, but once i got my first dollar...it's impossible to stop haha
110%. And it's not everyone's hardwiring. Like, I do stuff for my family first and foremost. They are THE why I do everything... but how I bless them is via the money I make sooo... more money = more blessing. Anyway, super cool for you! Keep it up!
Thank you 🫶
Well done @lerakuntsevich - once upon a time, even Buffer started this way.
Here's their founder telling the story at one of the Techcelerate events many moons ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVCt0evSM_c in Manchester. Enjoy!
Best regards

thank you! 😊 i will definitely check this story, i believe there will be much more to learn!
Hey there! Seems like we are building a very similar product. Mine is https://podcut.io/. Let's connect as we're competitors :)
wow! Josh, your tools looks great as well!
Thank you!
hey competitor! nice to meet you 😃
that's interesting, let's connect! do you build in public in twitter?
Not yet but definitely planning to do that in the near future :) Followed you on Twitter, I'm tuned to see how clipwing goes!
thank you!
followed you back! looking forward to see your updates 🤗
Congrats! Where did you post?
thank you!
oh, yes, forgot to clarify! i build it in public and post everything on twitter 😊
here: https://twitter.com/thiswillblossom
This a great app idea, congrats! On the other side, will it be possible to generate (using ai) keywords about the imported video? Given the video on your homepage, an example would be to create the keywords #saas #content #video #marketing #etc Some days ago I read about someone needing this kind of tool
thank you! i also thought about this option and i find it useful! but it will be in work after the 1st MVP launch. so, if you have any other ideas - i'm happy to hear them 😊
Congrats! Were you building in public from the start and was it just on this platform and product hunt?
thank you! yes, i'm building in public from the start 😊 i use twitter for my daily updates and indiehackers for more detailed insights
Many congratulations. Love your insights :) Thanks for sharing it.

Congrats on the users! I really like the product's simplicity.
thank you so much!
How do you get people to find you after you post on twitter?
i always use #buildinpublic hashtag, it helps me to get more views and attention. and also communicate and support other people so they start to communicate with me and support too 😊
Congrats ! and wish you the best for growth !
thank you very much! 🤗
Congrats!
thank you!
Congratulations on the remarkable progress, and I must say, your approach to building interest and engagement for ClipWing is truly commendable! 🎉 It's evident that your dedication to showcasing the product's potential through diverse content has paid off, capturing the attention of your audience even before its physical existence. Your responsiveness and friendly interactions with people have undoubtedly created a genuine connection with your potential users, fostering a loyal and supportive community. Celebrating that first sale is indeed a pivotal moment, and your transparency in sharing that success has further instilled trust and credibility in your product. Keep up the fantastic work, and I'm excited to see ClipWing soar to greater heights! 🚀🦋 I'll definitely check out the website and pre-order this innovative product. Best of luck on your entrepreneurial journey! 💪😊
thank you Aristobat for your kind words! the smile can't leave my face after reading your comment 🥹
Hey @lerakuntsevich this is such an amazing product. Such a simple webpage which is what I love most. Quick, simple, and gets right to the point.
I have a quick thought about the pricing if you will indulge me :)
I think that after you gain some traction, which I believe you will, you should analyze your data and see the average/median length of content that users are uploading. I do not come from a video editing background, so I'd be interested in seeing what your results are.
If your data shows that users are uploading videos that are shorter in duration, I think switching to a pricing model where you can upload footage that equates to a total number of hours could have an interesting impact on user conversion to a paid account.
What are your thoughts?
thank you for your support and feedback Kyle! 😊
i will definitely keep track of the statistics of what videos people post most often. at the moment, since we pay for the use of AI by the minute, the pricing of ClipWing is tied to the number of minutes. but i'm sure that as soon as real users appear, a lot of things can change 😅
Congratulations, that's a good start
thank you!
Amazing! Congratulations, this is wonderful 😊
What platform did you use to share your story?
thank you so much! 🔥
i mostly use twitter for my "build in public" activity (https://twitter.com/thiswillblossom)
Great information and congratulations.
thank you! i'm glad that you found t helpful 😊
Super exciting, that's the hardest part! Congrats!
thank you so much! 🔥
Congrats! Where and how did you launch it?
thank you! the product isn't live yet, so for now it is possible only to pre-order. but i hope in 1 week i will launch a first test version. if you interested, here are more details: https://clipwing.pro/
Congratulations! Keep up the great work and momentum!
thank you 🫶 yes, i’m trying really hard not to miss my momentum!
Congrats! What else have you tried in terms on marketing?
thank you!
one more my favorite tip: showing myself. it can be a collage with my face and product logo. it can be a demo video in which I explain something. it can also be just a photo of me, for example, sitting at the computer - it always works! these are usually the posts that get the most attention. I don’t know why, probably people want to know who exactly is behind the product, what kind of creator it is 😊
