Is this Twitter "trend" new or have I been missing out?

I just recently came across @dvassallo through this IH post, then followed him on Twitter and found a whole new world of possibilities!!

To be honest, I never really took Twitter seriously - it never seemed like a platform to generate tons of traffic or even straight up sales! And then discussions on IH about how valuable Twitter audience can be

Is this a new trend or I have been missing out?

Either way, the last week completely changed my perception about Twitter and I was wondering:

Do you guys know any more specific Twitter accounts that generate traffic or sales through Twitter? Maybe you have some of your own stories or results?

I generate a fair amount of traffic and sales through my Twitter. It helps that I’m working on a tool for devs and there’s a lot of devs of Twitter.

For some perspective, my launch tweet sent more traffic (and significantly more usage) then being #4 on Product Hunt for a day. And on Twitter every new feature can be a new launch.. so definitely worth investing in if your target users are there.

With only 3,000 followers? Wow, that's really surprising to me as my perception was that you would need at least 10k to have anything significant, but on the other hand, it makes sense if these are "real followers" - you put them in a stadium, there would be 3,000 people around you. How long it took you to build such an audience?

Who your followers are matters way more than raw number. You could have the same results with a few hundred followers, as all it takes is one person with 100k followers to retweet. I went from around 300 to 3k in a year, mostly due to focusing 100% on React-related stuff and sharing short tutorials.

Yeah, I agree on the quality of followers. Thanks for sharing!

If you would change the word "followers" to "newsletter" subscribers, it would have made more sense to me in the past, as even one week ago, I consider 1 follower lower quality then a let's say a one newsletter subscriber, but now all I see is a big opportunity with Twitter.

I follow a many freelance artists on twitter - it's their main platform for discovery and sales.

Could you throw some examples of their accounts? I would be interested to see what they post.

I do feel like once you learn the secret of how Twitter really works, a whole world of possibilities open up!

Yes! I see Twitter in a whole new way now.

In my opinion, selling eBook on Twitter on how to earn on Twitter is a ponzi like business model. Anyway, if you find your target group as @Gabe did, twitter is great.

That's the plan now - find the target group and grow the audience!
