🚀Launching: passwords for Notion pages

Hey everyone!

Launching Sotion.so, password protection for Notion pages.

I made this because:

  • I noticed that a bunch of people on the Notion subreddit are asking for this feature
  • It's on Super.so's roadmap so it's probably something their users are asking for
  • One of my Cloakist customers asked if I could put their Notion pages (actually hosted via Super) behind a password

You can try Sotion.so out here:

https://sotion.so

(The password is Sotion, and it'll take you through to the landing page.)

Would love to hear your feedback!

      Same reason it's not "Lotion.so"?

P as in password, potion is a word where a potion illustration could be used. I was just wondering, since it was available

        1. 2

Great question - basically a fellow indie hacker is making https://addpotion.so/ and I didn't want to mess him up!

          1. 1

            Ah alright, gotcha :D

  1. 3

Oh, nice. I would use this.

But $12p/m for Super with a bunch of stuff and possibly passwords down the line.

Then $20 p/m for just password protection, feels pricey.

    1. 1

Yeah, that's fair. I figured I'd start high and see what demand's like. Great bargaining - I'll cut you a deal at $10/m!

      1. 1

I also just decreased the price on the landing page to that coz why not eh.

Congrats on the launch! I have a question:

How are you handling payments from users ? I saw the price is 10/mo but no way to purchase on the website. Is this something you are handling manually via email ?

    1. 2

Yes, exactly - I handle that by sending Stripe Checkout links to subscribers. Still extremely early-stage so not implementing a payment solution on the site just yet

    503 ERROR

There might be too much traffic or a configuration error. Try again later, or contact the app or website owner.
If you provide content to customers through CloudFront, you can find steps to troubleshoot and help prevent this error by reviewing the CloudFront documentation.

Yeesh! Thanks a lot for pointing that out. Working on a fix

It's a nice project and would love to feature on Notion GMT+8 community.

I'm wondering if you'd head over to the memberstack / memberspace direction instead of just an auth wall?

    1. 1

Thanks a lot Felix! Would love to be featured. If there's anything I can do to help with that, please feel free to email me at louis@cloak.ist

I would definitely consider heading in that direction if people seem interested. As a next step I'm planning to launch a feature which will make Sotion DocSend for Notion.

(In other words - no password, but people have to put in their email to get access. And an additional option will be: only a certain list of emails can get access.)

      1. 1

        Nice :) It's my pleasure.

Would you be keen on jumping on a 20-mins virtual coffee to discover future ideas / roadmap for your project?

I can be found on Twitter too: https://twitter.com/felix12777

Yes, I 100% would. Will tweet you now
