Ok so I've been learning few new technologies the past period (1y) and what's better for learning a new technology other than creating something in particular with it? So I decided to create a simple team events management tool that helps people managers organise team events like offsites, team buildings or simple going outs as well as celebrating personal celebrations like birthdays, babies, leaving the team dates, by simply sending these people an e-card or buying of an actual gift.
But now I came to the point where I have to measure the idea, and if I can really push it as a product as from this point on I will have to spend some actual money (web development, marketing, growth).
I guess the question is, if you'd been managing a team of around 10 people, would you be willing to pay 20 bucks monthly for a tool that helps you organise people, events and its outcomes (reports and feedbacks)?
I don't think I can answer your question directly (that's something to find out with customers!) but from my own experience, companies do pay for assistants (some virtual) to arrange events but I don't remember them using a dedicated tool. Often for infrequent events (e.g. offsites), managers of smaller teams are willing to put in a little time to organise them themselves (with GSuite, Google Calendar, etc). Have you considered what kind of event (as opposed to any event) and slightly bigger teams where the co-ordination becomes exponentially harder?
Thanks for your reply.
Well the company events that event management is responsible for are rather broad topic and even though I thought of solving them, it might take longer time for me to learn and iterate. So many options and data to be processed! Thus I am going small.
The mentioned spreadsheets and Calendar based management is actually a burden to the people that organise these events and the tool I am aiming for should provide centralised place where this is managed.
