First paying customer (at $60 per month)

Last night, one of the companies trialing Screenjar became the first paying customers and signed up to the $60 per month plan.

It took more than a month to get here and a few promising trial customers didn't end up converting, but I'm happy at least one company sees enough value to start paying.

They've been very supportive and have provided such helpful feedback already, so I couldn't have asked for a better first customer.

There's a lot of work to do, but I'm super excited to keep working on this and see where it goes 😊

Nice work!! The first 10 customers are the hardest to get. 1 down 9 to go!!

I hope this is true, what you’re saying and that after my tent customer it will be somewhat easier to gain more customers... :/

I’m at 8 paying customers now, averaging $42 p/mo but it was really tough to get there ...

    Woohoo!
    Congratulations! 🙌
    Keep collecting that feedback.

If you can, reach out to those trial users to find out why they didn't convert. There's gold there in their responses. It's hard to ask but what you'll find out will help you move more people from trial to conversion.

I've just checked out screenjar after seeing this post in the IH email and it looks amazing! Such a good idea! Good job, keep it up.

    Congratulations 🎉 best of luck

  5. 2

so good man, love what you’re doing here

  6. 2

    That’s so awesome. Congrats!

Well done Ramy. I think this would be very useful if you capture user data too (with consent) for diagnostic reasons, such as broswer, language, timezone, screen resolution, OS etc.

Congratulations. A tip I'd give you is the re-work the screen grab of the example conversation on your landing page so that it's on a screen or in an email thread. That way it could be distinguished more easily from the text above and below.

At the moment I am getting a wall of text.

Also listen carefully your paying customer and try and understand the pain you solve for them, and what they consider your USP. This can help you refine your landing page language.

You can reach out to new lead by finding bugs on existing websites and using your own tool to send them feedback. Hopefully if they like it they'll implement it more globally.

It looks like a unique idea, good luck!

Good shout - I'll try that

No worries, I added a few other tips.

Thanks for the mini landing page roast!

I've put the chat thread in some browser chrome and I think it has helped 🙌🏼

Tested out your demo and loved the experience! Can't believe I haven't seen anything else like it.

Will definitely keep your product in mind

  10. 2

    Warm congratulations!

  11. 2

@Ramy Congrats for getting your first paying customer. BTW Screenjar looks cool.

  12. 1

Hey Ramy, neat product :) have you considered integrating with the likes of Freshchat, Freshdesk, etc.

As you've clearly demonstrated on the webpage, Screenjar comes to great use in customer support. An integration with customer support software might lead to discovery and adoption of Screenjar.

    1. 1

Absolutely - I'm just trying to validate that the product is actually useful with the first couple of customers before spending loads of time on integrations

  13. 1

Your product is a really cool idea

  14. 1

Good job!! I’m also getting my first few paid users - go get it bro! Just looked at your product and it’s smart - great idea!

  15. 1

Wow! really unique product! You are solving a pain point that no one thought of it before. lol Good luck.
I may be your future customer :)

    1. 1

      Thanks :-)

Let me know if you have any questions or want to try it out

      1. 1

        Thanks for your reply. :)

Is it possible to implement it for mobile screen recording? or is it something that can't be done?

        1. 1

The browser APIs used for this wouldn't work on mobile, but there are other options for mobile browser recording, like session recording (tools like fullstory.com do this)

In terms of recording mobile screens outside of the browser without any downloads, I'm not sure it's currently possible.

Have you got a specific use case in mind?

          1. 1

            I see.
Regarding the use case, I was thinking about the similar experience for mobile apps like what your tool does for websites.
I manage a couple of mobile apps and when there is any problem with the app - the users send us screen recording video of the issues.
So I was thinking that it would be a great solution for mobile app developers, if you could somehow managed to do it for mobile too. :)

    how do one sign up?

  17. 1

    Awesome. Keep it up!

  18. 1

    Congratulations!

  19. 1

I am sure you know this, but HIGHTLY recommended to revisit those who did not convert into customers. Why? what is the main reason they did no convert? what they said was the deal breaker for them? was it the product itself? promotion? what changes will they make them reconsider it? This data collection will be the ground for next versions. congrats!! and keep pushing forward!

    1. 1

I actually wasn't planning on doing this, so this is great advice - thanks!

    2. 1

Was going to suggest the exact same thing! 💯a must

  20. 1

Wow. How does it work? How it can access my desktop windows? Screen Capture API?

    1. 2

Yes, exactly - the screen capture API. It's fairly limited at the moment (only works in Chrome, Firefox or Edge), but I'm hoping there's a big enough market of companies who support customers on those browsers and would find this useful.

  21. 1

I love this idea. It has a lot of potential. And congrats on your first paying customer.

  22. 1

Well done mate! Keep on going and keep us posted :)

    Cheers,
